The village is full of charm with narrow lanes There is a good range of local facilities including a general store, newsagents, patisserie/tea rooms and highly commended local chip shop. There is a sandy surfing beach 1 mile away (Westward Ho!)

There is a annual visual arts festival (late May/earyJune) and book festival (late September/Late October). Appledore Regatta is held annually in August.
