Rhone Alps comprises some of the best French alpine ski resorts. Les Arcs is one of the best known with vast runs, plenty of lifts to alleviate queuing. Lots of websites offer more detail on Les Arcs which comprises Arcs 1650, 1800, 1900 and Peisey-Vallandry.
A new lift (first opened for 2003/04 season) called the Vanoise Express enables skiers to cross the valley into La Plagne, another collection of resorts. Together La Plagne and Les Arcs are known as Paradiski which boasts more km's of ski run than any other resort globally.
Peisey-Vallandry is best known as the family ski resort within Les Arcs. See the local website here:
The resort comprises two villages which have merged over the years, Plan Peisey and Vallandry, and are now marketed as as single resort. There are a number of lifts from all over the resort to various point in Les Arcs. On the Plan Peisey side the Vanoise Express is the dominant feature. So from Plan Peisey you can go up to Les Arcs or cross the valley to La Plagne. La Plagne can offer better conditions in late season when it is sunny nut it just adds an extra dimension to the skiing with lots of additional runs and peaks.
At 1650 Peisey-Vallandry is very snow sure and on the sunny side of the slope.
