The England region

East Devon features a beautiful coast line with striking red cliffs and a mix of pebble and sandy beaches. The coastline stretching to the East of Sidmouth is known as the Jurassic coast and many significant fossils have been found here. Modern visitors can see fossils embedded in the rocks at Lyme Regis and keen eyed fossil hunters can take home their own finds from Lyme Regis and Charmouth beaches.

The area around Sidmouth is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Inland are pretty west country villages tucked in amongst the rolling Devon hills and ancient woodlands.

West Country

Sidmouth has a long pebble beach with sand and rock pools at low tide. The esplanade stretches the length of the main part of the beach.

East Devon is ideal for walkers - the South West Coastal Path passes through it offering breathtaking cliff top walks. Inland there are miles of public footpaths exploring river valleys, woodlands and marshes and within an hour's drive of Sidmouth is the wild natural beauty of the Dartmoor national park.
