The Lake Maggiore region

This area of north-west Italy is incredibly rich of things to do and visit.

The climate is mild in both summer and winter, producing Mediterranean vegetation, with beautiful
gardens growing rare and exotic plants.

Dickens, Flaubert, Byron, Stendahl, Manzoni and, in more recent times, Hemingway, are just a few of the illustrious visitors who enjoyed not only pleasant sojourns in these areas only but also discovered endless fonts of inspiration.

Lakes, islands, mountains, characteristic towns and picturesque villages, masterpieces of Nature as well as Man awaiting to be discovered by experiencing them day by day, and revelling in their scents and the zest of their flavours.

Just near the Alps, in a wonderful natural scenery and rich vegetation, Lake Maggiore is the reference point for exciting tours.

Come and discover all the magic Lake Maggiore can offer. Lake Maggiore, repository of the wealth and cultural
patrimony left by the Borromeo family, is still testimony to their prestige and refinement which can be seen in their magnificent palaces with their impressive Italian gardens, and the imposing Fortress of Angera. The lake should be seen from the lake, and from the lake time seems to have stood still.

The Monastery of Santa Caterina clinging to the rocky cliff; Stresa and the Borromeo Islands, small in size but rich in history, and the Castles of Cannero, island outpost of the Mazzarditi Brothers, infamous pirates of the Verbano, are just a few of the timeless examples awaiting the visitor.

We are a few kilometres far from Valgrande Natural Park, the green Val Vigezzo (the Painters Valley) and Val
Formazza with its evocative Toce Falls.

But this area is also fantastic for sports lovers with inside interesting routes for bikes or walking through horse-farms. Here You can enjoy Horse riding, hiking, walking, climbing, biking and skiing..and, with 7 Golf courses around the lake, Golf Lovers will have a new course to play every day.

Finally, if You want to taste some good wine, do not forget to visit the "Basso Piedmont" area. Fara, Spanna, Gattinara are not only names of Towns. They are also the names of the very good wines produced in this area only 60 Km far from our House.
