The East Anglia region

The picturesque village of Peasenhall sits in gently rolling, quintessentially English countryside, a short drive from the deservedly famous Heritage Coast of Suffolk and close to endless interesting towns, villages, breweries, vineyards, gardens and grand estates.

What To Do in and Around Sheep Cottages and Peasenhall

Lounge Around

Both inside and out, Sheep Cottages are great places to lounge around, reading, playing games, listening to music, or just doing nothing at all. In summer, chill out on the patio, or make like the Cadbury's Flake girl in the wild flower meadow. If it's cold, light a fire and curl up on a big squishy sofa wrapped up in a soft rug ...

Eat and Drink

Whether at home or out and about, both eating and drinking are a huge pleasure. The village provides an excellent general store, an award winning butcher and a fabulous "by royal appointment" deli, whilst from farm shops, vineyards and breweries all around can be sourced delicious ice cream, bread, pies, cakes, jams, chutneys, fruit and veg, wine, cider and beer, all of which make cooking and eating at home great fun. Venture out and there are fantastic pubs and restaurants in every direction and for every taste, from the simplest pub grub or fish and chips through gastro pub scoff and excellent but understated cooking, to posh nosh in country house hotels.

Walk, Cycle, Fish, Sail, Swim, Play Golf

The countryside all around is gorgeous and offers endless possibilities for easy walking and cycling straight from your front door. You can store your own bikes in the shed (or shod as it's known in Suffolk) or rent from Darsham Bikes. Both river and sea fishing are available locally, and are said to be excellent. Sea swimming is bracing and very good for you! The sailing needs no introduction - if you sail you will know, golfing likewise.

Watch Wildlife

You could spend a week watching and listening to the birds in the garden at Sheep Cottages ... but on your doorstep are some of the greatest RSPB reserves in the country... as well as hares, owls, deer, badgers and countless other wildlife waiting to thrill on even the shortest walk or drive.

If Life's a Beach ...

... then you'll be a very happy bunny. Within 15 minutes drive of Sheep Cottages is the Heritage Coast which takes in Southwold, Walberswick, Butley, Dunwich and Aldeburgh - all different, all unspoiled, all beautiful.

Art, Books, Music

Each cottage has a good quality hi-fi with iPod dock on which to enjoy music, a small library of books, and art and objects from across the world. But around Peasenhall is a hotbed of artistic activity, with galleries galore and festivals of music, art and drama left and right, particularly in summer, from the famous - Latitude, Snape and Aldeburgh - to the lesser known three miles away at Yoxford. There is outdoor opera and drama at Glemham Hall, art cinemas in Aldeburgh and Southwold ... the list is endless.

Explore Local History

All around there are beautiful churches and awe inspiring castles, lively market towns and quaint villages, grand houses and ancient pubs. Your Pevsner will be well employed in this part of Suffolk.

Go Shopping

... for food, for drink, for art, for antiques ... markets, antique emporia, farm shops, galleries, breweries and wine merchants abound. You may need a roof rack for the journey home ...

If it all gets too exhausting or if what you've come for is a rest, then rest assured that the beds and pillows are extremely comfortable and complemented by beautifully soft pure cotton linens and snuggly duvets. Relish the peace and tranquility of country nights and enjoy a week or two or three of blissful sleep.
