Snowdonia is simply one of the finest places in the UK you could visit. The scenery is breathtaking around every corner, with more mountains than you could hope to climb, more valleys than you could hope to see, wild rivers, secret lakes, ancient forests, prehistoric remains, castles, steam trains, mining museums, whitewater rafting, horse riding...the list goes on.
Yes, it does rain, like everywhere in the UK, but bring your waterproofs and wellies, and it's surprising what fun even a walk in the rain can be especially if you pick a place like a river with some good falls to admire! Have some hot chocolate in store for when you get home and you've got another great day out.
Right where we are there's a 4-mile sandy beach with safe swimming for kids. Reputedly the best kite-surfing and kite-boarding beach in the UK. We even have rock pools on one end, right where you come down the footpath too. Kids love poking around for crabs and shrimps. Also lots of sand dunes to explore.
Just a mile up the road is the famous town of Harlech, with it's magnificent castle, good shopping facilities, pubs, some fine restaurants, and a world-class golf course. There's a ton of stuff to do - just google "Harlech days out" and you'll see.
