EscapetoItaly: The 1 bedroom apartment is located in a 17th century palazzo in the historical heart of Galatina. It featured on Channel 4's "A Place in the Sun" with Amanda Lamb in 2007 (watch online now on Channel 4's '4oD') and has since been beautifully refurbished by award winning 'Puglia Estates' (also seen on TV). It sleeps 2 to 4 people, is self catering and is a perfect base for exploring the Salentine Peninsular. The property boasts original vaulted ceilings, 2 private roof terraces (spectacular views), a balcony over the cobbled streets, and right outside the door are shops, restaurants, cafes and gelato (ice-cream) shops open all year round! Stunning local scenery and only a short drive to either the Adriatic or the Ionian Seas make this an ideal location to take it easy and enjoy the dolce vita. There are miles of beaches, acres of olive groves, and gallons of fantastic wine! The apartment has heating/air-con, DVD/CD, projector, fridge, freezer, dishwasher & washing machine.

Parking is available in a small square right outside the front of the palazzo. Further parking (in the unlikely event that the square is full) can be found approximately 1 minutes walk from the apartment further up the street. The property has 2 private roof terraces with spectacular views of Galatina's church bell towers and roof tops ... ideal for eating al fresco, enjoying an evening drink, or catching some sun.
Food packs (including the lovely local produce and fantastic local wine) are available to help you settle in and relax. We may also be able to take special requests, perhaps a chilled bottle of prosecco or a couple of beers for that first night on the roof terrace. Please contact us for further details.
Puglia is renowned for its fine cuisine, with a wealth of local organic produce, fresh sea food, and more olive oil than the rest of Italy combined. More recently, the wines of the area are also receiving the recognition they deserve. The area has long been recognised by the Italians as a favoured holiday destination, as they flock during the summer months to the hot climate, the warm seas, the stunning beaches, and the relaxed way of life. The area is less known however to the foreign traveller, resulting in unspoilt natural beauty and a very italian lifestyle ... the dolce vita.
Located in the historical Centre of Galatina (a Cittá d'Arte), the property is within 5 minutes walk of the town's restaurants, cafes, bakeries, shops (not forgetting the gelato ice-cream shops) and fine examples of the beautiful churches the town is famous for. Further afield the bustling, baroque provincial capital, Lecce, is only a 20 minute hop away. Or, if you prefer the sea, sand and amazing fish restaurants (not to mention underground grottos, fishing villages and beautiful coastal walks), Galatina is also within easy reach of the Ionian (Gallipoli, Santa Caterina, Porto Cesareo) and the Adriatic (Otranto, Torre dell'Orso, Castro) coastlines. Alberobello, the home of the trulli, Ostuni, the White City, and Sta. Maria di Leuca, the 'Lands End' of Puglia, are also just a day trip away. Having said this, why not find your own secluded paradise by exploring the fabulous country/coastal roads. Bicycles are available to use (for free!) from Galatina's Tourist Information Office.
