The Regional Park of the Euganean Hills started in 1989 and was called a "permanent laboratory" for environmental protection where even agricultural activities are protected: olive oil, the various types of cheese, D.O.C. wines (including the well known red wines Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon, whites as Chardonnay and sparkling wines such as Serprino or Moscato Fiori d'Arancio) and honey.
It is easy to reach by car from the motorway A4-A13 Padova-Bologna, Terme Euganee exit if you come from Venice and Monselice exit if you come from Bologna.
The Hills are the ideal starting point for numerous trips to visit all areas in the Veneto region in short times. Padova is the nearest city but there is also Vicenza, the Palladium city, Verona with the performaces in Arena, the Lake Garda. You can visit the Adriatic Coast or walk along the banks of the River Po. You can visit the renowned Venetian Villas that flank the banks of the River Brenta travelling by the Burchiello's boat with which you can reach Venice.
Pietrafiorita is set deep in the greenery in the heart of the Regional Park of the Euganean Hills close to Arquà Petrarca, the wonderful Arquà that was chosen as home by Petrarca, the greatest poet of '300, where he died and now you can see Petrarca's tomb on the church yard of the Chiesa di S. Maria Assunta. Arquà became Arquà Petrarca in his honour.
