Rock is arguably the ideal place to holiday, either as a base to explore Cornwall or to stay in the local vicinity and enjoy the many activities, restaurants, and local villages nearby or simply to relax, taking in the fresh air and beautiful scenery.
Rock is located on the North Cornwall coast on the shores of the Camel Estuary with its fantastic sandy beaches and sand dunes. Daymer Bay, one of the best local beaches, is particularly good for rock pooling and is popular with families. Polzeath, about 2 miles away, is a renowned surfing beach where lessons can be arranged with local companies including board hire and wetsuits.
Walk from Rock along a mile of fine sand backed by dunes to Daymer Bay, tide permitting. Perhaps take a detour to see the breathtaking views from the top of Brea Hill and visit the historic St Enodoc Church, the burial place of the former poet laureate, John Betjeman. From Daymer Bay you can join the spectacular coastal path over the clifftops to Polzeath.
The estuary is ideally suited for many water sports; sailing, water skiing, fishing and boat trips of many sorts can all be arranged at Rock.
For the golfer there are two local courses, the famous St Enodoc golf course with its breathtaking views over the estuary and the nearby course at Roserrow Country Club.
