Brussels is not only the capital of Belgium, it's also the capital of Europe. It's centrally located: it takes you 35 minutes to go to Antwerp or Gent, 1 hour to go to Bruges and 1 hour 15 minutes to go to the beach.
But this central location makes it also perfect for day-trips to Paris (1hour20minutes), London (2hours), Amsterdam (1hour50minutes) or Cologne (1hour50minutes).
As capital of Belgium and Europe, there is always something going on in Brussels. In summer you'll have plenty of festivals, most of them free. In winter there is our highly esteemed Christmas market. The Grand Place must be one of the most beautiful squares in the world. There are plenty of museums, with the new Magritte Museum just to mention one. Brussels is also cartoon capital, so you'll find large cartoon decorated walls all around town. If you are a lover of beer or chocolate, Brussels is pure heaven!
