Restaurant Golf at the club serves fantastic food and is well recommended. Guests are always welcome, please call beforehand to check course rules. Golf Club Menaggio: (Menaggio Como).
Ski: This beautiful lake region of Italy is not the best for skiing as you may imagine, despite its scenery, crisp air and near perfect visibility and mountains capped in winter snow. It does however have Skiing opportunities at local resorts for a day out.
There is a small ski area on Mt. Lema, not more than 10 km from Lugano, but you have to be lucky to have enough snow for skiing. In Ticino, the local Swiss Canton, the best places to ski are probably either San Bernardino (south of the pass of the same name) or Airolo (south of Gotthard pass). Both are reachable in about 1 hour by car across the Swiss border.
There are direct trains to Airolo as well from Lugano and hence from Italian Stations. To S. Bernardino there is only a bus connection. For more snow try Andermatt (on the north side of Gotthard pass) which has normally good snow conditions and a good choice of runs.
The closest major ski resort is Madesimo toward the Splugen Pass, which is approx. 1 hr 20 min by car

White washed throughout, this year in July, the property is maintained in a high condition as we use it personally when it is not let out. the Natural wood from the 17th century beams and shelving is allowed to be exposed, as is the old inglelnook fireplace in which you can set next to the wood burning stove. A brand new central heating and hot water system has been installed in March 2012, as well giving you piping hot water without the use of expensive storage cylinders. The green shutters ensure it is cosy and well protected and there is ample storage for coats hats and boots for those winter walks in the Alps and going up to the glaciers when the weather is colder.
we offer washing facilities through the management family who look after the villa for you, and this is payable locally at reduced rates, but offers the guests the chance to go back with a completely washed and ironed suitcase
in summer you can let all the windows open and let the gorgeous smelling breeze just waft over you as you sit on the upstairs terrace or next to the kitchen as you watch the world go by.

Besides being the most famous of the Italian lakes, Lake Como is one of the most beautiful places in the world. It has absolutely stunning views of the surrounding majestic mountains with their deep valleys running through them. The clear lake water is mesmerizing and varies in colour from light green to dark green/blue. On the rare occasion when the lake is still, it mirrors the magnificent scenery that surrounds it.
The towns and villages along the lakes shores are very picturesque and each one of them feels like it could be home to any number of celebrities. In summer you will find villages inundated with tourists from all around the world. However you will notice that certain areas of the lake attract different nationalities. During the summer months and especially at the weekends, many of the lakeside lidos (beach areas) are full to capacity with holidaymakers as well as local residents. The Milanese tend to come to the lake for their weekend break as well as to escape the smothering city heat.
In the winter months the lake is much quieter although you will still see and hear the odd tourist ambling around. Lake Como is never completely tourist free as even during the winter the lake attracts visitors with its stunning snow-capped mountains and clear crisp winter days with blue skies.
Argegno is a lovely little village on the west side of the lake and is situated on the Regina road at the start of Val d’Intelvi with the river Telo flowing through it. It is approximately 20km from Como. This small village is popular with tourists and is always very busy in the summer months. There are some interesting sights such as the Santa Anna Church which dates back to the 18th century. The interior of this church houses some original frescoes and furniture. Another church worth visiting is the Chiesa della Trinità. There is also a cable car from Argegno here that takes you up to Pigra (approx 800m) with amazing panormic views across the lake. You can also take a walking tour of Val d'Intelvi if you are feeling fit.
