Day trips are also possible to Ephesus, the largest archaeological site in the world and the stunning pools at Pamukkale although to make the most of your visit then an overnight stay might be a good idea. Also recommended is a trip to the royal rock tombs at Dalyan and the Temple of Apollo at Didim. The complex has 24 hour security and all cars remain in the car park so that it is safe for children to walk about. Transport within the site, should you need it, is by chauffeur-driven golf carts. Many a pleasant afternoon and evening can be spent at the restaurants and cafes by the sea front which are also excellent value and cheaper than Bodrum town. In Bodrum you can also visit the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus which was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the amphitheatre also hosts musical events. For water fun then visit the Dedeman Aquapark in Ortakent. Or if you want to go further afield then take a day trip on the ferry to the Greek island of Kos. Or howabout going to Yalikavak to see the Windmills? In Bodrum town there is also a lively nightlife. The old market is open seven days a week for clothes, shoes, leather goods and souvenirs.
