Grosseto area is the southern part of Tuscany that has a variegated landscape, oak forests, olive groves and plains of wheat and sunflowers. Also the coast , known as the Maremma, is very varied: long sand beaches, steep rocks and forests.
The most famous part of the Maremma is a natural park, known as the “Parco dell'Uccellina” a well preserved area with intact beaches and pine forest. The fauna of the park is very rich and is made up of several animals such as wild boars, deers, foxes.
This is a relatively undiscovered Tuscany, still unknown to mass tourism. In the inland area there are several small towns and villages characterized by Etruscan and medieval architectures.
Manciano is a medieval hilltop small town between the valleys of Albegna and Fiora with stunning views from the Amiata mount to the Thyrrenian coasts and the islands of Giglio and Montecristo, and even Corsica when the sky is particularly clear.
Manciano is a wonderful starting point for exploring all the area has to offer. From here you can visit medieval villages such as Pitigliano, Magliano, Sovana, Sorano or the Vulci Ethruscan archeological site.
There are many paths for walking, trekking, mountain-biking and horse riding.
You can enjoy the hot waterfall of Saturnia and you can also relax in the Saturnia Thermal spa. In thirty minutes you can reach the beaches of Argentario and the Maremma natural park. During your stay you can also taste many wines following the 'Wine path' and visit Scansano, where the Morellino wine is produced.
The islands of the Tuscan Archipelago are worth an excursion for sea lovers. Ferries and boats depart from Porto Santo Stefano.
All the services are available in Manciano. You can find excellent restaurants and pizzerias. The town also has a post office and a pharmacy.
