The Berry region

The property is situated in a quite little hamlet 2km from Eguzon. It is 500m from the riverside beech at Montconcu and a ten minute drive from the lake at Eguzon. Here you can fish or take part in the water sports. The area is one of natural green countryside and is rich with wildlife including deer and various birds of prey. There are fasinating insects and butterflys not to mention the lizards that poke their noses through the little nooks and crannies. It is rural French living at its best. There is a very good Super U supermarket and petrol station in Eguzon and many other shops selling local produce. There is a small market on Wednesdays. The weather is cold in winter but hot in summer, June, July and August are typically 27-32 degrees centigrade. The area is situated in a micro-climate. A fantastic base for those seeking to buy property in the area.

There are many places to visit in the area catering for many different tastes. There are villages of interest close by including Argenton sur Creuse, a small market town with its shops and bars, Crozant which has a castle and a beautiful walk through the woods, with a river and waterfall and Gargilesse one of France most beautiful villages where George Sand (a woman by the way) the author who had an affair with Chopin. There is a tourist office in Eguzon for many other local attractions. Further a field there is Poitiers which is an old French town and has a zoo and a park of the moving image called Futurascope well worth a visit. There is another park further North call Puy du fou. www.puydufou.com brilliant website. In Gueret there is a wolf park and Limoges offers more shops and a wildlife park. For a wartime history lesson the village of Oradour sur Glane is an incredible experience of what the Germans did to a defensless village for revenge, murdering nearly all the inhabitants and burning the village, which has been left as a memorial to the atrocity.
