The Valencian Country region

The Mediterranean laps a sun-kissed coastline where beaches range from palm-fringe sandy bays to hidden coves backed by rocky outcrops. This summer playground offers you the chance to play golf, try watersports, take boat trips and scream your way around thrilling rides at Terra Mitica theme park. And that's not to mention the local bars & restaurants that will jostle for your attention. If you prise yourself away from the attractions and delve a little deeper into the region you can discover pretty whitewashed villages and citrus groves where the scent of orange blossom wafts through the air.

Torrevieja Area

The main town of Torrevieja boasts plenty of bars & restaurants and it is one on the fastest expanding towns in Spain. But it has learned a few lessons from places like Benidorm as you will find no high rise hotels or ‘lager louts’ here! What you will find in the area is a bull ring (still a favoured attraction for the Spanish), a water park, fairground, go-carting, hot air ballooning, boat trips, 4 x 4 tours, theatre & cinemas. Torrevieja offers you all the entertainment you could want while still retaining that ‘Spanish’ feel. There's a good variety of shops & the large town of Alicante is only 47 km away.

Within easy driving distance are several golf courses including Villa Martin, Los Ramblas, Campoamor, La Finca & La Marquesa (Quesada) or the lovely sandy ‘blue flag’ beaches of La Zenia & Cabo Roig.

Torrevieja is famous for the two saltwater lagoons, the largest in Europe that have been designated as National Parks as they attract more than 250 bird species including flamingos. The flats have been used for salt production since Roman times & still provide salt for export worldwide. You can even visit the Museum of Sea & Salt that reflects the town’s historic roots.

Fiestas are held most months but during the summer the biggest take place. June sees the burning of effigies for the feast of San Juan. In July there’s the feast of the Virgin del Carmen but the biggest is the ’Habaneras’ International music contest in August.

Torrevieja swings to the soulful rhythms of Latin America in the late 19th Century when the town’s salt trade was at it’s peak with Cuba. It’s a great time to holiday here… so book well in advance!
