The Large Terrace:

The terrace has astonishing views across gardens to the gorgeous beach and sparkling sea. Not for nothing is the area called the Coast of Light. At the rear of the terrace you overlook the protected wetlands and a tributary of the River Guadiana, where a large number of native birds can often be spotted including egrets, flamingoes and storks.

There is a good selection of terrace furniture and the option of sunny spots or shaded ones depending on your preference. The outdoor Jacuzzi immediately by your French windows is a great place to wind down after a day of sun and sightseeing, and the bbq or electric plancha offer an excellent alternative to dining out. Mouthwatering fresh fish, meat and vegetables for the bbq are readily available from the morning market in Ayamonte, as well as the local supermarkets.

The development itself is the smallest to date on the beach, and is set in a secure, gated community with landscaped gardens. Each individual apartment is fitted with security grills, although this is generally a very quiet and safe area unlike the busier costas.

The development comprises two blocks, and is provided with a very large adult pool, a smaller children’s pool, paddle tennis courts and a children’s play area.

Private car-parking is available underneath the building.

Further details

The pool is only open between June and September, though the ocean on your doorstep is safe for bathing due to a long sloping shelf. However the hotel next door has a lovely pool, and they are quite relaxed about non-residents using it provided you buy a drink. In addition it's possible for children and teenagers to join in the organised games.

The Andalucia region

Huelva province is in the Western part of the Costa de la Luz, where Spain borders Portugal. It has sometimes been known as the Spanish Algarve. This part of Spain is generally more temperate than the other costas, and it is possible to play golf all year round. There are many places of interest to visit. For instance, the little town of Ayamonte is only 5 km away, and here you will find traditional Andalusian palm fringed squares, cobbled streets and beautiful buildings, as well as wonderful places to eat. It is less than an hour from the bird watchers' paradise of Coto Donana, and a little over an hour from beautiful and historic Seville, the home of flamenco and tapas. 10 minutes walk away is the fishing village Punta del Moral, with authentic Andalusian atmosphere and great fish restaurants. On the 16th July you can see the procession of the Virgen del Carmen, when local fisherman carry the statue of the Virgin down to the sea.

Isla Canela

Isla Canela, which means the Island of Cinnamon, is a small island in the mouth of the Guadiana river which runs between Spain and Portugal. It is connected with the mainland by a causeway 5 km from the lovely Spanish town of Ayamonte in the region of Huelva in Andalucia. Ayamonte is sometimes known as the Gateway to Spain, since it is the first town after crossing over the delicate-looking, airy bridge over the Guadiana river.

The area offers the best of both Spain and Portugal, and provides seven kilometres of unspoilt, uncrowded glistening golden sand and shimmering blue sea. It is a safe beach for children because of the soft sloping ocean-floor, and the waters are warm and calm for much of the year. The beaches have been voted amongst the 6 best in Spain. It is a magnificent area for golfers, with Isla Canela course less than 10 minute drive, and an additional 5 courses within an hour away.
