The National Park of Northumberland, Hadrian's Wall, Keilder Europes largest man-made lake are all a very picturesque drive away. Explore the surrounding coastal villages and towns of Northumberland and sample the local foods. For those who love history you can not only visit Hadrian's wall and Roman sites but also many stately homes and castles, including Alnwick Castle.
You can visit Edinburgh in a day travelling by train. If it is cities and nightlife that you like then you can travel into Newcastle from Tynemouth Metro Station and be there within 20 minutes.
