Our apartment is just a stone's throw away from Edinburgh Castle, so makes a great base for anyone visiting the city. It's located right next to Grassmarket, a thriving hub of activity including pubs/shops/restaurants, along with numerous street performances and street markets in the Festival. It is only 5 mins walk to the Usher Hall and Lyceum Theatre as well as numerous other festival venues such as Potterow, or The Underbelly. A short stroll along the Grassmarket brings you to Victoria Street, which is filled with boutique shops and restaurants, and leads up to the Royal Mile. For stocking up on groceries, there is also a Sainsbury's supermarket, just 2 mins walk from the apartment.
The apartment is bright, spacious and comfortable. In the large double bedroom there is plenty of storage/wardrobe space, and a small dressing area. In the lounge, there is an additional full-sized double sofa-bed (note: the one in the photo is about to be replaced with a bigger brand new sofabed), a flat screen TV with many cable TV channels, free WI-FI internet, and a few books/magazines to entertain you during your stay. The beds are comfortable and the main bed benefits from a memory foam topper.
Off the lounge, there is a kitchen, with all the appliances and utensils you need should you wish to cook at home (including microwave and full height fridge with separate freezer beneath). We also have a separate dining area off the lounge, which seats 4 people. The bathroom has a powerful (mains water pressure) shower. We are refurbishing/redecorating the bathroom in June, ready for the summer season, and adding a large heated towel radiator.
Linen and towels are all provided, as is the laundry and cleaning. There is also a washer-drier machine for clothes, and iron/ ironing-board should you need them. Complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, and milk are provided so you can have a 'cuppa' to help you settle in. We also provide a few other basics (such as salt, washing up liquid, cloths, washing powder, soap) to avoid you having to bring everything with you.
I used to live in the apartment myself for a number of years. I now handle the bookings personally so that I'm on hand to help with local advice and knowledge to make your stay run as smoothly as possible. I'll guide you to all the best bars/restaurants, and leave a basket of leaflets/fliers/takeaway menus in the apartment to give you more ideas.
Edinburgh is the world's leading festival city, with 12 major annual festivals bringing talents from more than a third of the world's countries to our streets and stages. Dating back to 1947, the Edinburgh International Festival was established after World War II to create "a flowering of the human spirit" in the Scottish capital. Other festivals followed, from military grandeur to intimate jazz and blues, captivating science to underground theatre and children's entertainment. As these festivals grew into world leading celebrations, they became an inescapable part of Edinburgh's identity.

Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, is historic and cultured city, whose setting is wonderfully striking; perched on a series of extinct volcanoes and rocky crags. If you're looking for a broad mixture of great things to see and do, Edinburgh is the place to be. Admire stunning scenery, striking architecture, fine food, and first-class attractions.
Edinburgh Castle dominates the city-centre skyline and is the focus throughout August for the nightly 'Military Tattoo' and the Virgin Money End of Festival fireworks display (31st Aug). From its ramparts you can look down on medieval lanes and elegant, sweeping terraces that hold over a thousand years of history, mystery and tradition. Yet you will also see a modern capital where, galleries display cutting-edge art, and bars, restaurants and clubs create a lively, cosmopolitan atmosphere with a distinctly Scottish twist.
Edinburgh is home over the summer to numerous arts/music/comedy and film festivals, and provides a magical backdrop for a city break. The Fringe festival is among the biggest comedy festivals in the world and offers hundreds of performances and free street shows.
