Two cots are available if needed - and two highchairs! Parking for up to 3 vehicles. The fully fitted kitchen has all mod cons and includes a breakfast bar. The large lounge has a dining area and plenty of space to play some of the many board games available. Patio doors open from the lounge and kitchen onto the private garden (exclusive use for Apt 1) where views stretch down to Godrevy Lighthouse – a perfect setting for barbecues and al fresco living. The large family bathroom includes both bath and shower, as does the en-suite. There is also a separate cloakroom. Its warm décor and relaxing ambiance make Mermaid House the ideal home-from-home holiday haven. With its library of books, selection of DVDs and games, TVs in the kitchen and two double bedrooms and a Smart TV in the lounge - AND WIFI - there will never be a dull moment!

A frequent bus service (bus stop 250 yards from Mermaid) runs into town. However, for those guests who enjoy walking, not only can you walk into St Ives from Mermaid (11 mins down, 20 back!!), but five minutes walk in the other direction takes you onto the moors. Additionally, there is a delightful walk across fields which takes you to the North Coastal Path. You then have the option to either walk towards Zennor or into St Ives, taking in stunning views - sometimes even spotting a seal or two!! For cyclists there is room in Mermaid's garage to store bikes.

Christmas and New Year are absolutely magical in Cornwall, from the impressive Christmas lights at Angarrack and Mousehole, to the wonderful fancy dress party of St Ives on New Year's Eve - something not to be missed. The costumes and atmosphere are second to none, culminating in an impressive fireworks display over the harbour, which reflects on the water. It seems to get better and better each year. Certainly worth putting on your "to do list!"

Mermaid House is perfectly situated for those seeking comfortable accommodation and close proximity to the bustle of nearby towns. To quote one of our guests "Can I just say that Mermaid House is absolutely stunning. It has surpassed all our expectations." We would love to welcome you to Mermaid House - we know you won't be disappointed!!

The England region

St Ives - The jewel in the West Cornwall crown... loved for its superb beaches, narrow streets and flower-filled courtyards, its glittering sea and clear air and for its friendly hospitable people.

The beaches of St Ives are its crowning glories. Magnificent Porthmeor Beach on the town's western edge is famous for powerful surf, yet is ideal for non-surfers of all ages. The more sheltered Porthminster Beach on the town's eastern edge has perfect conditions for family groups.

Fishing no longer dominates the quays, but boats still fill the harbour and Smeaton's Pier is still the preserve of the town's fishing community. Fish are landed, nets mended and the spirit of Old St Ives is still tangible. The town's colourful heritage is distilled not only in its physical character but in great artistic traditions dating back to the 19th century when accomplished painters revelled in the clear accurate light, luminous colours and the vivid imagery of place and people - an artistic legacy exhibited in the splendid Tate Gallery above Porthmeor.

Add to all this a range of excellent restaurants and cafes which cater for all tastes, traditional pubs, entertainment for all ages, a modern cinema and a lively, friendly atmosphere and St. Ives becomes even more of a holiday delight.

The September Festival brings a feast of music, literature, theatre and art. Breton markets line the harbour in the Summer and the Square Sail Fleet are often present. Throughout the season enjoy floral displays that have won more National and Regional wins and placings in Britain in Bloom than anywhere else in the UK.

A marvellously scenic branch railway line follows the coast here on its way between Penzance and St Ives.

St Ives

Mermaid House is perfectly situated for those seeking comfortable accommodation and close proximity to the bustle of nearby towns.

St Ives is a Mecca for artists and restaurant lovers. Nearby Penzance offers the convenience of a larger town and the city of Truro with its historic cathedral, top restaurants, bars and shops is just 25 minutes away.

The surrounding area offers an abundance of activities, including scenic walks, beautiful fishing spots, woodlands, an ancient church, surf-beaches, a selection of local pubs and a Golf Course.
