Drepano and Plaka beach are well known areas of Greece for holidays. Drepano itself has everything required for everyday needs including supermarkets, pharmacy, bakers, butchers, post office, taxi rank etc. Our apartment is situated half way between the village centre and the beach. Plaka beach is popular during the summer with both foreign and Greek tourists and is a great place for swimming and sunbathing. The sea is clean and shallow and ideal for children. The village has a selection of tavernas serving traditional Greek cuisine and cafe/bars.Situated just ten minutes away is the town of Nafplion, Greece's first capital, a romantic and cosmopolitan town that attracts visitors all year round.Five minutes from Drepano in one direction takes the visitor to the resort of Tolo and a couple of minutes in the other direction to the beautiful fishing village of Vivari.
The Peloponnese is famous for its many archaeological and historical sites including Ancient Mycenae, the Ancient Theatre of Epidavros, Ancient Corinth, Acrocorinth, the Corinth Canal, Ancient Nemea, Ancient Olympia, Monemvasia, Kalavrita and many, many more. Mycenae and Epidavros are just half an hour away, and the UNESCO site of Ancient Tiryns (Tiryntha) is just 15 minutes. There is so much to see and do in the Peloponnese the list would be endless. There are many activities for the adventurous and non: watersports, rock climbing, sailing, guided tours, cruises to the islands of Hydra, Spetses and Poros from either Tolo harbour or Nafplion harbour, guided tours to the archaeological sites, private taxi tours, Spa treatments (just around the coast), and the area is perfect also for lazy beach holidays with a variety of different kinds of beach within a few kilometres. The natural beauty and diverse countryside of the Peloponnese is another factor which attracts visitors all year round, including the huge mountain ranges that split the Peloponnese down the middle. Snow skiing is actually available in the Winter season. Basically the area has something for everyone, young/old, adventure/relaxing, beautifully breathtaking and strongly traditional.
