The region has many different market towns and beautiful villages to visit with a variety of tourist attractions for all the family. You can also enjoy Dartmoor's beauty without going to far and enjoy the contrast of sea and Moor. You will be spoilt for choice when you visit this area there is something for everyone.
Ramble Lodge is situated in a wonderful spot in Newton Ferrers, the South Hams. The village is nestled on the river Yealm and offers so much to a visitor to enjoy a variety of activities. Water Play:Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo are popular destinations for many boats. Sailing and boating of all kinds lie at the heart of the community revolving around the Yacht Club. Sailing lessons and boat hire can be arranged locally. The area is also great for canoeing and kayaking.Walking: There are wonderful walks from Ramble Lodge along lanes and the river you can also enjoy the Southwest Coastal path from the neighbouring village Noss Mayo. Beaches: The lovely sandy beach at Mothecombe is on the headland south east of Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo. There is rock pooling and a small sandy beach at Stoke Beach just beyond Noss Mayo. Across the Yealm estuary is the National Trust beach at Wembury. Slightly further afield is the vast sandy beach at Bigbury on Sea with its walk at low tide across to Burgh Island.Other activities:The nearest golf course to Newton Ferrers are at Staddon and Bigbury on Sea which are approximately 20 and 25 minutes drive respectively. There are outdoor tennis courts in Noss Mayo available to hire. There are great places to cycle in every direction from Ramble Lodge whether you are heading along the river, down to the sea or into the beautiful countryside of South Devon that surrounds Newton Ferrers. Horse riding and pony trekking is also available close by at the Newton Ferrers riding stables. There are also many different child friendly attractions within the area for you to enjoy including Pennywell Farm, the Plymouth Marine Aquarium, the Plymouth Life centre and the Buckfastleigh Butterfly Farm to name a few for a different day out.There are a variety of establishments for you to enjoy a meal or drink out, try the Dolphin on the water front in Newton Ferrers or visit the Swan where the children can crab as you relax, or enjoy the river from the Ship in Noss Mayo . There are also very good eating establishment further afield in neighbouring villages and Plymouth.Whether you are relaxing with a beverage admiring the view or taking part in water play there is so much to do you will be spoilt for choice.
