Giant's Causeway

Bushmills is a village on the north coast of County Antrim. The village owes its name to the River Bush and a large watermill built in the early 17th Century. The diamond area is typical of many old traditional Ulster towns and villages where the corners are gathering places for the exchange of news and banter and still happens today. The best known attraction is the Old Bushmills distillery which was founded in 1608.

The distillery gives guided tours which is well worth a visit. From bushmills you can take a steam train to the famous Giants causeway. This is an area of about 40,000 interlocking bassalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic eruption. The causeway is today owned and managed by the National Trust.
Bushmills has many good restaurants and pubs serving good local produce.

Carrick-a Rede rope bridge is a short journey from Bushmills. Its construction once consisted of a single rope hand rail and widely spaced slats which fishermen would walk across with their salmon caught from the island. The bridge has now been made more secure and replaced by a two handed railed bridge so that tourist will feel safe crossing!!!

Ballymoney is only a short distance away and has a good leisure facility know as Joey Dunlops centre. Within the town of Portrush there are a selection of indoor venues which include Waterworld. The Dunluce centre and Barrys amusements and a large choice of restaurants and cafes and bars. Beautiful beaches surround you with the Royal Portrush Golf course midway along the beach.

So you see an abundance of things to suit all ages.Come and discover this wonderful county and take home some special memories that will last a life time.
