The surrounding areas of Carlingcott have so much to offer. A short drive takes you from the peace and quiet of Laurel Farm to the Georgian city of Bath. Bath has many wonderful restaurants and bars, fabulous shopping and street entertainers, historic Roman baths and Georgian Architecture. The ancient town of Glastonbury, which attracts so many thousands of visitors each year to the Glastonbury music festival, Longleat House and Longleat Safari Park owned by Lord Bath, one of the countries leading wildlife Parks. Wookey Hole offers entertainment for the entire family, Stonehenge where the ancient Neolithic stones have stood for thousands of years and so many more.
The cottage is set within the peaceful Cam Valley. It wasn't always peaceful, there were three coal mines here, a canal and a railway (but no main road and hence the peacefulness!). Mining ended in the 1950's, looking carefully you can see evidence of the old industrial era; a walk by the Cam Brook or up the tree covered batch (old spoil form mining).
