** Sorry for my delayed reply, been hectic with work since we returned from holiday!

We had a really lovely week in Porlezza, we just thought the whole area was beautiful, the scenery is really out of this world and everyone we met was so lovely and welcoming. I would say the scenery and the friendliness of all the locals was the best thing about our holiday, including the amazing view from the villa.

The villa was lovely and we loved sitting out on an evening with the stunning lake view. The location was also perfect being so close to the village and restaurants etc.

The living room area is really amazing and spacious, although we found the bed area a little small.

We appreciated your tips on things to do in the area and we explored quite a lot of it, particularly enjoying the boats which we rented from nautic planet a couple of times. We would have loved to go on one of the train trips but our toddler is a bit of a handful on public transport so we travelled mostly by car. We did make it to Milan for a day trip too and did a couple of hikes.

The villa was easy to find with the detailed directions and the team were very helpful when we asked for a high chair and a new cotbed.

My iphoto is playing up at the moment so I can't attach any photos but will send some on in due course as we took lots of pictures of the amazing view from the living area.

Thank you again for all the information you sent through,

The Lombardy region

The Italian Lakes are a little slice of paradise. Elegant ribbons of blue water stretch out ahead, folded into the sun-baked foothills, with a spectacular back drop of the snow-capped Alps.

Warming, inspiring and graced with natural beauty, the lakes are still a place to draw breath and wonder. Lake Lugano, oriented north-south, ringed by characterful old villages often wedged onto narrow beaches between rugged cliffs and water.

Those classic lake images of flower strewn balconies, Baroque gardens and splendid waterside villas can be found here in abundance. Dotted around and between the lakes are some of Italy's finest art cities, such as Milan, Verona & Bergamo.

Porlezza is just over the mountain from Menaggio on Lake Como and on the scenic route to Lugano. Porlezza is the main town at this end of the Lake and adds an Italian flavour to a well known Swiss name!

Lake Lugano is situated in the south east part of Switzerland and is located on the Switzerland and Italy border, most of Lake Lugano lies in Switzerland, the lake is named after the city of Lugano that is situated between Lago di Como and Lago Maggiore.

The two lakes, Lake Como and Lake Maggiore cover a much larger area that Lake Lugano, the most interesting feature of Lake Lugano is it's shape, it's a long lake about 36 kilometres in length but the width of the lake does not exceed more than 2 kilometres at any point, also Lake Lugano is the only lake that has a bridge over it that connects the two towns Melide and Bisonne.

Lake Lugano is surrounded by beautiful hills and mountains, the area experiences a climate close to that of the Mediterranean climate, the beautiful mountains, surrounding villages and towns together make Lake Lugano the perfect holiday destination. Some of the interesting mountain peaks to visit near Lake Lugano include Monte Bre and Monte San Salvatore, Monte Bre is the closest to Lugano and is about 925 meters high, the mountain stretches over the border of Switzerland and into Italy.
