Ruscombe Hall offers 5 bedroom accommodation and is suitable for up to 10 people plus cots.

On the ground floor, there are typically large Victorian family rooms - a living room, dining room and fitted kitchen - even the entrance hallway can be used as a banquet room !

Where Ruscombe Hall is being booked as part of a larger group booking of other properties at The Grange it can easily be used for gatherings of up to 40 or so people.

Comprehensively redecorated, with a brand new fitted kitchen and either brand new or newly refurbished bathrooms, the house offers something a little different - a country house feel, but not at country house prices!

The house stands in gardens of approx 3.5 acres, within which you will find an indoor heated pool / hot tub / sauna complex, a games room, a separate gym, and many other pieces of individual family play equipment - in addition, there is a large decked bbq area, and to top it off, we have our own private fishing lake - about half-acre with some great (but devious) fish, carp, roach, rudd, perch etc..

All of these facilities are shared with the other properties at The Grange, but our overall max number of guests is still low, and in our experience there is more than ample space and capacity for all - the garden has been set up to offer different sections and areas, which creates an element of privacy and also contributes to the unique atmosphere here.

Further details indoors

The bedroom accommodation features 4 individually designed rooms - 3 individual bedrooms, and a family bedroom suite that could also be used by 2 separate couples if required.

In more detail, these are:

Landor Room: This is a huge room with a superkingsize bed, a whole wall of fitted wardrobes and drawers, and an ensuite bathroom with shower over the bath. Views over the fishing pond and crocquet lawn.

Parlby Suite: Originally one large room, this has been cleverly divided into two bedrooms, they have lots of wardrobe and drawer space, and share a secretly located bathroom, which offers a bath and separate walk in shower. This suite is perfect for two adults and two children, and by using zip-link beds we can offer either a double and a twin room, or a kingsize double and a double room - in the latter case it would be suitable for 2 sepearte couples, the bathroom being located in the inner hallway to which both bedrooms have access.

Gilleys Room: Traditional double room, with a kingsize bed, and its own ensuite, featuring a bath with shower attachment.

Quantock Room: A twin bedroom, featuring lovely mahogany sleigh-beds. An ingenious use of space gives this room an ensuite shower and toilet.

Further details outdoors

There are 3.5 acres of well maintained garden, offering a great space to relax with friends or family - in addition to the facilities already mentioned, there is also a croquet lawn , giant outdoor chess and a tree fort.

Further details

Ruscombe Hall can accommodate a max of 10 people in beds plus around 5 cots - there are other properties which can be added for anything between another 2 and 34 people - the total occupancy for The Grange is 44.

We have many group bookings who take over all of our accommodation, mainly for family gatherings for which we are an ideal venue and also wedding reception groups - and for these Ruscombe Hall really is the jewel in the crown.

In order to maintain our high standards, we may not accept group bookings under certain circumstances (the most obvious being Stag groups) but we do suggest that you call us to discuss your groups individual needs.

The gardens, about 3.5 acres, are perfect for large gatherings - larger groups taking all of our accomodation will love it here.

We are often asked about marquees, for receptions normally, where we already have existing bookings we cannot allow use of marquees - we do insist on a sole-use booking where all accommodation is taken - and we do not accept more than 10 non-residents attending. This makes us perfect for small receptions, but unsuited to larger evening based functions.

The England region

Ruscombe Hall is set at the foot of the Quantock Hills, Englands first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - taking the coast road will lead you past numerous beaches (including one for fossil hunters) and small villages - Dunster and its castle, Minehead, Porlock and Exmoor are all less than an hours drive.

There are theme parks within driving distance (Crealy Park is about an hour, Longleat about an hour and a quarter), but much closer are places such as Cheddar, Wookey Hole or Glastonbury Tor.

There is an excellent outlet shopping village at Street, and Bristol with its Cabot Circus, or Cribbs Causeway, are all close by.

The Westcountry is, quite rightly, the No.1 holiday destination in the UK., and we are very well placed for exploring it.

Bridgwater, whilst in itself not a holiday town, does host the largest illuminated carnival in Europe, second only to the Rio Carnival - this takes place in November and is truly impressive - it is the birthplace and home of Squib running, gaint carnival fireworks on poles - this should be on everybody's 'must see' list.

Once through Bridgwater, the area changes to countryside - our village of Cannington has a shop, a post office, a butchers, a bakers and a newsagents, plus 3 pubs within the village and numerous others just outside.

The road from Cannington carries on all the way to Minehead, then on to Exmoor and into North Devon. It gives access to a number of good beaches, Kilve is about 15 mins away and is unusual in that it is part of Jurassic coastline, so is perfect for fossil hunting. Beyond that lies Watchett, Blue Anchor, Dunster and then Minehead itself, all sandy.

Within Cannington are some good facilities, a golf course, the Walled Garden visitor gardens, paintballing, to name a few.

We can also suggest beauticians, shooting (shotgun), horse riding for adults or children, and there are several good places to eat - including some pubs who do genuinely home-cooked still.

You wont be bored here!
