The England region

There are so many things to do in Dorset that make it the perfect place for a short break or holiday. There are a number of areas to visit, from the seaside resorts of Bournemouth, Swanage, Poole and Weymouth - the venue for the London 2012 Olympic sailing events - to the picturesque New Forest with its wild ponies and deer.

The Jurassic Coast is England's first natural World Heritage Site and stretches from East Devon to Studland Bay, near Swanage. It is wonderful for fossil hunting, walking and for many water sports, whilst the coastal features of Old Harry Rocks, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are spectacular.

Inland there are numerous picturesque villages and market towns to explore which are packed full of historical references. Dorset is known as 'Thomas Hardy Country' but you will also find links to many other authors including Jane Austen and Enid Blyton.

The Dorset coastline stretches from Christchurch in the east to Lyme Regis in the west and has numerous safe, sandy beaches as well as family attractions and museums. There is the Tank Museum at Bovington, the Teddy Bear Museum at Dorchester, Abbotsbury Swannery near Weymouth and Adventure Wonderland at Hurn. Poole Harbour, Sandbanks and Shaftesbury, the location of the famous 'Hovis' advert are also worth a visit.

The house is in a great location - wake up in comfortable, quiet surroundings and sit in the fully decked garden to enjoy the sea air. if you want to get closer to the sea then Boscombe pier is approx 10 min walk away. Around the pier you have level access to the sandy beach, places to eat and a surf shop. From the pier you can walk along with sea front towards Bournemouth (approx 2.5 km/2 miles) or catch the land-train which runs during holiday seasons. From the pier you can also access Boscombe Chine Gardens which has childrens' play areas, a cafe, mini-golf and garden bedding displays.

Away from the beach you can easily access Boscombe which has shopping facilities including supermarkets and weekly markets on Thursday/Saturday. The area also has a number of antique, craft and vintage shops - in Boscombe and neighbouring Pokesdown. There are lots of cafes, bars and restaurants near to the flat.

Bournemouth town centre has pleasure gardens surrounding the town centre, making it a very green and pleasant environment. The town centre has lots of bars restaurants and shopping facilities. There is also a cinema and theatre/shows at Pavillion Theatre & Bournemouth International Centre.
