The cottage is an ideal base for touring the dales or walking in the beautiful local countryside, along river valleys, across the moors or an hours drive to the mountains of the Lake District.
The historic towns of Richmond and Barnard Castle are only a short drive away and the cities of York and Durham can be reached in just over an hour. There are an abundance of great places to eat out in the area and the nearest pub serving good food is one mile away.
Anyone using public transport can be collected from Darlington train station or bus depot free of charge and bus services run to Richmond and Barnard Castle every day from the end of the farm drive.

This is a beautifully scenic area of England steeped in history with an abundance of castles, museums and old market towns. The landscape is of rolling hills and dales, rivers and moorland. The pace is slow and the people friendly. We can't guarantee sunshine but there is always plenty to do, whatever the weather.
Richmond and Barnard Castle are the nearest towns, only a short drive away but the cities of York, Durham and Newcastle can be reached within an hour either by car or train from Darlington railway station. Newcastle airport is an hour's drive away.
