Ibiza (official name in Catalan: Eivissa) is an island in the Mediterranean Sea 79 km off the coast of the city of Valencia in Spain. It is the third largest of the Balearic Islands, an autonomous community of Spain. With Formentera, it is one of the two Pine Islands or Pityuses. Its largest cities are Ibiza Town (Catalan: Vila d'Eivissa or simply Vila), Santa Eulària des Riu and Sant Antoni de Portmany. Its highest point, called Sa Talaiassa or Sa Talaia, is 475 m/1,558 ft above sea level. The summer season and the first really warm beach days begin in May, with beautiful clear, sunny days and temperatures in the mid-twenties. Between the months of June and September, there is very little rain fall. In August and September the temperature rises to over 30º C. With water temperatures of 25º - 27º C, beach babes are in their element!
Sheltered bay at the tiny resort of Cala Tarida with the longest and widest beach of fine white sand on this side of the island. The clean, clear waters over a sandy bottom are shallow to quite a way out on the right, deeper and more rocky to the left. The colours of the sea here are truly magnificent; turquoise, azure blue and emerald green. The beach offers sunbeds, parasols, restaurants, bars, lifeguards and access to facilities such as pedaloes, diving school, volleyball.
