The Chai apartment is totally self-contained and is situated within our b&b. It was originally the old wine store and still has the old stone walls and double height ceilings renovated into a charming place to spend your holiday.

It has a king size bed with shower room on the first floor. On the ground floor fully equipped kitchen and dinning area where there are french doors leading to a private courtyard garden with old stone walls covered in grapevines a BBQ and table & chairs for dinning alfresco.

The lounge is open planned and you will find a comfortable sofa, exposed stone work, TV with both uk and french channels and a wood burning stove for cosy autumn evenings.

It sleeps 2 adults and can also sleep 1 extra person on an occasional bed in the lounge.

Bed linen and towels are included ( not pool towels )

You have use of the swimming pool and gardens also secure car parking.

Vine House is surrounded by beautifully manicured vineyards - and the area's primary industry is "viticulture" (wine making). The local vineyard owner will be delighted to show you how the wine is made and - the best bit - offer you the chance to taste it!

Local facilities are only a 2 minute drive away at Pugnac (or a leisurely 25 min stroll) or take one of the bikes - Super market, wonderful cheap bistro, two boulangeries for those all important croissants and crusty baguette, wine co-operative, pharmacy, cold meat, butcher, hairdresser, village bar

The local Bastille town of Bourg-sur-Gironde is five minutes away. Built on a rocky outcrop this fortified village overlooks the picturesque Gironde estuary. As you explore the village, at every turn you'll find impressive buildings with beautiful architectural features. There is a lively little market every Sunday morning. It also has a number of excellent restaurants and cafés.

The town of Blaye is 10 minutes away with it impressive Citadel an UNESCO World Heritage site built in the 17th century, Louis XIV ordered Vauban to strengthen the existing fortifications at the Citadel of Blaye to protect the city of Bordeaux.

You will also find also a number of excellent restaurants and cafés. Throughout the year, there are fêtes and events to celebrate everything imaginable, such as show-jumping, jazz, salt, flowers, onions, garlic, cheese and asparagus! There are markets on Wednesday and Saturday and more restaurants and cafes.

As you drive alongside the Gironde river, look out for the Roman villa and troglodyte settlement at Plassac. Once at Blaye, the port has a car ferry which crosses the estuary to the forest and beaches of Les Landes.

The centre of Blaye is dominated by a magnificent citadel and the hillside fortress stands guard over the town and the river. Blaye has a large market each Wednesday and Saturday where you can sample and buy many of the local delicacies.

The local towns and villages often host "brocantes" (antique fairs) and "vide-greniers" (car boot sales). It's great fun rummaging around the stalls for authentic French bargains - or you could just enjoy a coffee and watch everyone else hunting for something special
