The Abruzzo region

The beautiful sandy beaches of Pineto and Silvi are about a 30 minute drive away.
There is an excellent golf course 50 minutes drive away.
There are 3 ski resorts, the nearest being 50 minutes drive away. The largest being the resort of Rocarasso, 1.5 hours drive.

Just 20 mins away from my house there is the Gran Sasso National Park. This national park is one of the largest protected areas in Europe. The show-piece is the massif of Gran Sasso, which dominates the surrounding landscape. The king of Apennines rises vertically on the immense pastures of Campo Imperatore, which is a small Tibet. On the east side, from Teramo, there is the majestic 'Paretone' which is a part of the central Adriatic landscape. It is the kingdom of perennial snow, rocks and wind.
On the north the profile of Monti della Laga chain, where thousands of migratory birds stop on the shores of Lake Campotosto. This part is completely covered by woods of beeches, firs, turkey oaks and chestnuts. There are over 200 kilometres of horse tracks which can be used to visit it.
There are many species of wildlife inhabited in the park, such as Abruzzo Chamois, wolf, roe deer, stag, wildcat, wild boar, foxes and squirrels. Birds as a golden eagle, the goshawk and the peregrine.

There is a park with children's play equipment, and also indoor/outdoor swimming pool just on the edge of the town. A number of artistic-artisan workshops are active in the town, with the production of Pennesi majolica earthenware's, serigraph prints, embroideries, traditional weaving, jewellery, wrought iron and copper work and fine cabinet making.
