The Famagusta District

There are many great places to visit within the Famagusta district.
Some of these areas are:

Ayia Napa with its array of golden sandy beaches, restaurants, bars and museums, is a very diverse place to visit. Head over to Ayia Napa harbour with its Greeks tavernas specialising in fish mezes. Or just relax with a cold drink taking in the views. Nissa beach is where the tourist development area started. With its pleasant sandy beaches and various water activites, including diving a jet skiing it is the perfect place to visit for a relaxing day. Also a place to visit is Ayia Napa monastery with its welcoming gardens. Its church was built in the 16th century over a cave where an icon of the Virgin Mary was supposedly found.

Protaras is just a 15 minute drive from Ayia Napa. It is very family orientated with many beaches bars and shops. The famous fig tree bay is also situated here, the beach is sandy with good water-sports facilities and surrounding bars and restaurants. This is quite possibly the best family beach in the area.

Ayia Napa

Just a 2 minute walk from the villa is Ayia Thekla beach, this beautiful sandy cove has its own lifeguard and taverna. This is not a well known tourist beach, which makes it all the more perfect for those lazy days by the Mediterranean sea. The beach sits below the picturesque Ayia Thekla church. In the opposite direction from the villa is the small fishing village of Potamos which is just a few minutes drive.

This pleasant creek with its small fishing harbour and traditional Cypriot boats is a perfect place to visit. My favourite place to go is the second restaurant, where you can just sit next to the beach and enjoy local fresh fish and a bottle of chilled wine afternoon or evening.

A day out at Waterworld waterpark is a must. We have had many fantastic days there and we are certain that you will love Waterworld whatever age. From children’s fun areas and swimming pools to the fantastic if not sometimes scary rides for the older children and adults. Best of all the waterpark is only 2 minutes drive from the villa.
