Cromwell is situated just off the entrance to the Great Hall on the ground floor. It is a self contained apartment featuring one double bedroom complete with four poster bed and ensuite bathroom. There is a large lounge/dining room overlooking the front lawn with feature fireplace and a well appointed kitchen. The centre of the beautiful village of Orton is a short walk away with tearooms, pub, village store, monthly Farmers' Market and the famous Kennedy's chocolate shop. Orton is well situated to access the Eastern Lake District and the Western Dales. It is on the Coast to Coast Footpath amidst beautiful, unspoilt countryside which appeals to walkers, cyclists and tourists alike.

Orton is a traditional Cumbrian village nestled in the South West of the County. Orton is located just 20 minutes drive from Penrith, gateway to the Northern and Western Lake District, and also from Kendal, gateway to the Southern Lake District. It is largely undiscovered by the throngs of tourists who head for the Lakes and provides a tranquil alternative amidst scenery just as magnificent and with easy access to both the Lakes and the Western Dales.

It is on the Coast to Coat path and provides excellent access to open countryside for walking and cycling. Whilst having easy access from the M6 Junction 38, Orton provides a quiet rural setting for a break away from the bustle of modern life.

Orton has two tearooms, an Art and Craft gallery, local store with Post Office, and chocolate shop. The George Hotel provides good value meals and a bar.

On the second Saturday of each month the very popular Orton Farmers' market attracts many local stallholders.

Nearby there are villages to explore such as Crosby Ravensworth and Ravenstonedale. Both of these provide excellent restaurants such as the Butchers Arms, Kings Head and Black Swan.
