Comfortable, well-equipped 4 bedroom house in Culdaff, Donegal. Culdaff is a peaceful village in Donegal on a long unspoiled golden beach.

The working fishing port in Bunagee is 2 miles away where fishing boats regularly land copious catches of crabs and lobsters destined mainly for Continental Europe.

The renowned McGrory's Hotel and Bar is less than a 5 minute walk from the cottage. McGrory's offers a range of a la carte or hearty bar food and is an important cultural landmark, hosting music events to touring international stars in the 'Backroom' as well as excellent informal folk sessions in the public bar.

The property has an open fire and oil-fired central heating, ensuring that you are always cosy regardless of the time of year.

N.B. - I really regret having to say this, but due to the numbers of such enquiries think it best to clarify for the avoidance of any confusion. Rentals of 2-3 days incur virtually all the same charges in terms of laundry, cleaning and electric as a week-long rental. Shorter rentals can sometimes be accepted, but are at double the normal daily rate and a cleaning charge also applies. Please do not ask for a daily rate of £50 (a B&B rate for a couple) for 6 people as this is completely unrealistic and would in fact be a loss after deduction of my costs.

The Province of Ulster region

Culdaff is a village on the Inishowen peninsula of County Donegal, Ireland. Popular for its long, golden and unspoiled beach, it is an idyllic location for those looking to get away from it all.

The Bunagee Pier is the mooring for two boats that take anglers out to fish, the Vagabond and the Gemini. The fish caught offshore include White Pollock, Black Pollock, Plaice, Rock Salmon, Sea Trout, Salmon. Shell Fish include Brown Crab, Lobster, Green Crab, and Velvet Crab.

Golfers will enjoy 2 very good links courses within easy reach - Ballyliffin and Redcastle - both 25 minutes away.

Locally, there are traces of ancient Celtic civilization in the standing stones behind the Bocan chapel, and in the impressive Grianan of Aileach hilltop stone ringfort built in the sixth century.

The nearby towns of Moville and Buncrana are worth a visit as is the ex-city of Culture, Derry (35 miles), for those looking for greater retail and/or cultural pursuits.

Inishowen is a unique location in that, whilst it is a county in the Republic of Ireland, it includes the most northerly point in Ireland - Malin Head. Malin Head itself is a short 25 minute drive away, passing the stunning Five Finger Stand beach on the way.

Donegal is an incredibly scenic county, renowned for its rugged beauty derived from its sandy beaches, rocky headlands and rolling hills. Because of its somewhat remote location, it is not heavily populated, and is therefore ideal for those looking for a peaceful break combined with unspoiled beauty. For this reason, it is very popular as a 'bolt-hole' for many people from in Derry and Belfast.
