It is an ideal base for exploring the area, which is rich in historical sites and stunningly beautiful scenery. Located on the ground floor of our home (while entirely separate and private) and adjacent to a stream, this property offers ground floor open-plan living area with kitchenette, one double bedroom, shower room with wc and private patio. It is a clean, comfortable space ideal for 2 adults or small family as there is also double sofa bed in the living room. The area is particularly suitable for young children as there is a large park area with a playground a few minutes walk from the house.

Region steeped in medieval history with spectacular Cathar monuments and castles. Mountains, rivers, canals. The region offers a variety of beautiful scenery for walking, cycling and The Pyrenees and Mediterranean are within easy reach and a visit to Spain or a shopping trip to Andorra are alternative ideas for a day out. In addition, the thriving city of Toulouse is just 90km away.
The town comprises two distinct parts : la Cité occupies a plateau on the right bank of the river Aude while the Bastide Saint-Louis lies on the left bank.The medieval walled city dates back to the 6th Century, has 52 towers and 2 miles of ramparts and is still inhabited to this day. Narrow streets offer a vast selection of shops and restaurants.
La Cité is a classified World Heritage Site, as is the famous Canal du Midi which runs through the town and on which you can take boat trips with commentary from April to October.
The town comes alive in summer with various lively festivals including the Music Festival in July when many and diverse musical and cultural events take place throughout the town and in the outdoor theatre.
Lac Cavayere is a 10-minute drive from Carcassonne and is an ideal venue for family outings: here you can have a go at mini golf, volleyball, petanque or just relax on one of the beaches.
