The apartment has been furnished using timber hand milled by the owners. This includes tables, benches, shelves and wall hangings to give a natural rustic feel. The design is tasteful yet simple. We (Rob and Megan the owners!) try and stay at least 2 to 3 times a year at the apartment. As well as a holiday let it is also a home that we love to come back to and hopefully this comes across in the furnishings and decor.
Time off in Hossegor combines all the usual sun and sand associated with a beach holiday with the culture and charm of French living.
Choose to have quiet secluded walks on beaches away from the hustle and bustle or indulge in eating, drinking and partying French style.
The apartment can sleep a maximum of 4 people. There is a large double bed in the corner of the lounge area. This features a large pull out bed underneath. Also in an alcove are 2 bunk beds. The top bunk is narrower than the bottom bunk. I (Rob) have slept there several times when we have had friends over but being a diminutive 10 stone it was not uncomfortable.
Built into a shelf unit is a projector system that allows DVDs to be played on a large 8' by 4' projector screen. There is a large collection of 70 DVDs but for guests bringing young children it is advised to bring their favorite films.

Recently we have completed decking the outside patio area with deodor cedar planks. The patio area is surrounded by a hedge which gives privacy from the adjacent walkway.
There is no set car parking place but a large car park near the apartment means you will always find a place for your car. However it is a short 2 minute walk from this car park to the apartment. The area around the residences is given over pedestrians only.
We have now provided a video and pictures to help illustrate where the apartment is from the car park. The last thing you want when you have just arrived is to worry exactly where you'll be staying! It may be a short walk to the apartment from the car but after that being in a quiet area away from traffic makes it that much easier to relax!
We don't tend to venture often much out of Hossegor and Capbreton. Everything we need can be found here. There are excellent places to buy food to cook and eat yourself. Fresh produce here is more seasonal and also is piled high in a more natural and less sterile way than in the UK. You can walk and run straight outside the apartment - the run around the lake must be done at least once! And of course the beach is on your doorstep.
The atmosphere here is relaxed. People spend more time enjoying life rather than desperately working and rushing here and there! Hossegor has a very laid back surfy feel to it with mopeds running past you with surf boards strapped to the side. Parking is easy and free. Don't block any driveways - but there are no parking attendants in Hossegor. There is everything you would expect in France all taken at a more relaxed pace. Often there are events staged near or on the beach and most of the time these will always be free to attend and watch. A leg of the ASP world tour is held here every year - you can wander down the beach and watch the professionals at work.
As far as the region is concerned a lot of the area is forested as you go inland. Hossegor is pretty much as far south as you can get in France but bear in mind it is on the Atlantic side of the coast and so weather can be variable. But you can get fine beach weather from April all the way through to October but you can also get some wind and rain as well!
On the rainy days with some imagination you can still find things to do. There is a spa over in Capbreton newly opened. If you have a car then google the local area and set yourself some places to explore. The apartment has it's own wi fi. You can travel towards or even into Spain - the San Sebastion inlet is a beautiful town on the coast and well worth a visit as is Biarittz. If you flew in to Biarittz airport and drove straight to the apartment then you would have missed Biarittz town itself.
Or if all else fails just curl up on the sofa and watch some of the many films we have here at the apartment.
Hossegor (pronounced "oz-gor") is in the Sud Landes area of south west France, not far from Biarritz. The area is dominated by its landscape of ocean, lakes and pine forests, creating one big outdoor playground!
The apartment is in the Les Terrasses de l'Océan - a collection of mostly holiday apartments situated at the Plage Notre Dames, the southern-most stretch of beach at Hossegor. The marina entrance here separates Hossegor from neighbouring Capbreton.
Technically, the address is actually Capbreton, yet the location is on the Hossegor side of the marina. It's just a minute's walk to reach the sand, less than 5 minutes to the bars, cafes and nightlife at Place du Landais (Plage Centrale) and 10 minutes walk to the heart of Hossegor (lagoon and town centre shops).
Please be aware you will be parking your car in the main car park, there is no car parking directly outside the apartment. The main car park is a two minute walk from the apartment.
This has advantages and disadvantages. The area around the flat is pedestrianised and so there is no traffic noise save the odd moped that runs by. The location here is perfect for walking and cycling. You can come directly out of the apartment and walk/run the entire way around the lake without even having to cross a road (if you do the complete circuit then at the end you will have to cross one road!). The whole of Hossegor and Capbreton is very well set up for cycling should you be bringing bikes. There are cycle paths on almost every road and also cycle paths that extend outside of town. Children with skateboards and bikes can practice on the large tarmac area that acts as promenade and which is just round the corner from the flat entrance.
The beach is on your doorstep - no need to get in your car. At night this is the quiet end of Hossegor. You can make the 5 minute walk into the 'Place du Landais' where there are plenty of late night bars and a couple of clubs. These are far enough away that you can't hear them if you are looking for a more laid back holiday but close enough to walk to if it's a more boisterous night out you are after.
There are 5 restaurants in the Notre Dame area - Cafe Sud the first can be seen from the apartment decking and is only 60 seconds walk away which we can heartily recommend!.
Hossegor is located right by the Atlantic ocean with the stunning beaches offering prime surfing opportunities attracting everyone from world class surfers (the Quicksilver and Rip Curl events are held here) to beginners who can learn on the safe beaches of Capbreton. Hossegor and Seignosse golf clubs are also nearby.
The Sud beach out the front of the apartment tends to work best when the other beaches further up the coast are too big to surf. It is also more a beginners type wave being not so heavy as some of the more well known spots. That said on it's day it can be classic. The whole of Hossgor really is about keeping your eyes on the conditions and checking all the time. Tide and wind effect the waves quickly. Early morning surfs can be uncrowded but as 8am goes past then people quickly filter into the water.
There are regular markets in both Capbreton and Hossegor offering everything from fresh local produce, crafts and clothes to carpets and art work. The Fete De Bayonne is a must see event in August! Le Petit train at La Rhune gives fantastic views across the Bay of Biscay. St Jean De Luz is a short trip along the coast and offers a beautiful bay, port and shopping.
Spain is approx. 40 minute drive with San Sebastian offering the delights of the old fishing port and tapas bars galore!
