An idyllic and well appointed character cottage situated in a beautiful rural village perfect for friends or family to share. The cottage is surrounded by it's gardens and located in a quiet lane adjacent to other character cottages and near to the village church.
Church Hill Cottage is in a perfect rural position within easy reach of the Jurassic coast, country walks, local towns and quaint villages. Forde Abbey, Mapperton Gardens, numerous National Trust attractions and the historic market town of Bridport are all within easy reach. The coast has a variety of unspoilt beaches as well as small Dorset resort towns including Lyme Regis, West Bay and Weymouth. There is local horse riding, fishing (fresh water e.g. trout, carp etc. or sea water e.g. mackerel), cycling, walking and a host of other activities. As the cottage is located near to Dorset's borders with Somerset and Devon, those counties are also easily explored.
We love the selection of great foods locally - either buy from local sources, farm shops and markets and cook in our well equipped kitchen or visit one of the many local outstanding pubs and restaurants and have someone else cook for you.
Whilst there are no shops in the village there is a good selection of shops, including supermarkets, pharmacies, hardware shops and cafes in Crewkerne and Beaminster. There is also a great farm shop in nearby North Perrott.
There are frequent direct rail links from London Waterloo to Crewkerne which is only a 5 minutes drive to the cottage. We do recommend a car for your stay although you may find that you can get by with a good pair of walking boots and the occasional taxi. A number of walks can be started directly from the cottage, including a very pleasant 4 mile round walk to a local pub.
Parking is available near the cottage, by the church, in a dedicated space, and / or in a layby approx 100m away where a further couple of cars can be accommodated.
Church Hill Cottage sleeps six people, has an open fire in the lounge and woodburner in the dining room, making it a very cosy cottage! With mature secluded gardens to the front and rear of the cottage - perfect for summer BBQs. The two patio areas makes a perfect place for an early evening glass of wine with one covered in a beautiful Wisteria filling the area with an intoxicating smell during the spring months.
Please note the prices page shows separate prices for 2 and 6 guests.

Dorset is an outstandingly beautiful county set in the South West of England. Bursting with stunning countryside and the dramatic Jurassic coastline, not forgetting numerous places of historical interest and mild South West climate making Dorset the perfect holiday destination.
The market towns of Bridport, Dorchester and Sherbourne also seaside towns such as Lyme Regis and Weymouth are all within easy reach. Famous landmarks such as Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, Chesil Beach and Golden Cap are nearby. For the kids there are numerous attractions including Sea World and Monkey World, and the childrens' farm and swannery at Abbotsbury.
There are many farm shops nearby including well known The River Cottage shop and cafe in Axminster. Also numerous pubs and restaurants near by are well worthy of a visit.
Summer Lodge Country House Hotel is approximately 15 minutes drive away and is the perfect place for a slap up lunch, dinner or their amazing afternoon tea in the elegant dining room. A treat absolutely everyone should try!! For an extra special treat book yourself into their amazing spa for a spot of pampering.
South Perrott is a picture postcard village near the pretty market town of Beaminster. The River Parrett runs through the village and you can even walk through part of it (in wellies of course!) on the ' Parrett Trail' which takes you on a beautiful walk up to the next village of Chedington where there is a great pub with fantastic views down the valley for that well earned pint!
There are two pubs in South Perrott: The Coach & Horses and Wynards Gap where you can meet the friendly locals, get a good pint and, if you don't want to cook, some decent 'pub grub' (we recommend Wynards Gap for food). There are a plethora of other pubs in nearby villages serving good food.
Church Hill Cottage is situated near the top of Church Hill in a private and secluded position. At the very top of the hill lies the lovely church of St. Mary's, where King George was said to have visited. On Sundays you will hear the melodic sound of the church bells chiming - you will really feel that you are part of country village life !
Getting here is easy with frequent direct trains from London Waterloo to Crewkerne station (only 5 minutes from the cottage), Exeter airport only 45 minutes or the A303 within 20 minutes drive away. Church Hill Cottage is in a very accessible spot.
