The Costa del Sol regionThe San Roque resort is located in the less developed and relaxed region between Sotogrande and Gibraltar and conveniently close to beaches and resorts at the southerly end of the Costa del Sol. Surrounding the resort are protected ancient cork forests.There are several beaches so sand lovers can also be sure of an enjoyable stay. Places to visit also include Gibraltar with its duty-free shopping and, of course, the famous apes, which can be seen by taking a cable car or a bus tour. The Key Ceremony that takes place in the square daily is also of interest. Puerto Benus with its celebrity lifestyle and yachts also has a fantastic beach. The port of Sotogrande has its own display of yachts and is the perfect venue to enjoy people-watching while sipping some sangria at one of the many harbourside cafés.The Costa del Sol is famous for its climate, beautiful resorts, amazing night-life, innumerable golf courses, bars, restaurants and beautiful beaches. The Sotogrande / Torreguadiaro areaSotogrande's marina is worth a visit to sit and chill out with a beer or coffee and spot the yacht because this is the place to see and be seen! August is Polo season and to spot the famous and infamous...Beautiful sandy beaches at Torreguadiaro, La Alcaidesa, Sotogrande and Tarifa are within short drives of the resort.San Roque hosts the Spanish Open and nearby Valderrama is the home of the annual Volvo Masters and has also been the venue of the Ryder Cup in recent years. Golf courses abound along the Costa del Sol so where to begin?On the resort the equestrian centre is within a short walk of the villa and where rides can be arranged. Also tennis courts, swimming pools, restaurants, bars, beauty salons, golf shop and banks are conveniently close.Torreguadiaro town, retains its mainly Spanish feel and is a peaceful holiday destination. The beach is popular with Spanish daytrippers in season but during the week it is relatively quiet with plenty of room on the large car park. From mid June to mid September there are two popular beach bars offering food, drinks sunbeds and parasols. Behind the beach are a couple of beach bars serving food (bbq sardines out front). The village offers about 10 restaurants and bars with food to suit all tastes from Indian to Italian, traditional to modern spanish and mediterranian cooking.
