Excellent links across the channel via Eurotunnel and ferry ports puts the property within an easy 1 hr: 15 mins from Calais

The property is located in the beautiful Seven Valleys region of northern France, which has many rivers, lakes and forests and the fabulous long sandy beaches of the Cote d' Opale. This historic area is ideal for sightseeing, golfing, walking, fishing, cycling, canoeing-kayaking and sea sports

Enjoy a peaceful and relaxing holiday in the pretty village of Douriez. Only a 5 minute stroll away is the boulangerie where you can buy your freshly baked bread and croissants and basic supplies. Also the excellent award winning restaurant/bar L'Estaminet de l'Andouiller, serving speciality dishes in a traditional setting with open fires and a friendly ambience.

The Hauts-de-France region

This recently renovated Barn adjoining the owners property, is ideally situated for a relaxing holiday in a pretty village setting, with the opportunity to explore the beautiful Seven Valleys Region of Northern France. When you are not out and about, sit and relax in the lovely south facing garden, with views of the local church.
With excellent channel crossing facilities we are only 98km from Calais, 35km from Le Touquet, 24km Montreuil sur Mer and 25 to 30km from the fabulous long sandy beaches of the Cote d'Opale
The region is of historical importance and has seen two world wars.


-The nearby market town of Hesdin is about 15/20 minutes drive and has various supermarkets and all amenities. There is also a new Swimming Pool and bowling alley complex, with outdoor swimming in the summer season
There are also supermarkets, a bar, and bank facilites, in nearby Campagne-les-Hesdin about 10 minutes drive away
-The historic town of Montreuil-sur-mer is 20 minutes drive, with its cobbled streets, lovely restaurants/ cafe/bars, and a selection of shops/supermarkets. A must is a visit to the 16th century Citadel where Victor Hugo's LES MISERABLES is enacted for 1 week during July/August every year, with a local cast and spectacular light shows . Walk around the ramparts and see stunning views of the Canche Valley
-The chic resort of Le Touquet (Paris plage) only 40 minutes drive, has something for everyone. Visit its twice weekly market with many stalls, and a covered fish and fresh produce market, followed by a leisurely lunch watching the world go by at one of the numerous restaurants and bistros. Walk off your lunch with a stroll along the promenade or the long sandy beach.

-There are several excellent golf courses in the area: Nampont St. Martin (two 18 hole courses), Belle Dune set within forest, lakes and dunes, also Le Touquet, Hardelot and St Omer. (storage for your equipment in the Gite)

-Markets are held every day in the surrounding area. The nearby towns of Hesdin, Montreuil-sur-mer, Etaple and Le Touquet to name but a few. They all offer regional produce with speciality cheeses and meats, and a wide range of market stalls.

-The many war memorial sites are easily accessible from your holiday home:
A must is a visit to Vimy Ridge, with its excellent visitors centre and the Canadian Memorial. It is a truly amazing and moving sight. There are also guided tours walking under and around the trenches.
Near to Vimy is the largest military cemetery in France at Notre-Dame de Lorette
The Military Cemetery at Etaple is built on the site of the 1st World War military camp, being a memorial to over 10,000 Commonwealth Forces
The Menin Gate at Ypres is a little further afield. Every night at 8.00pm A simple but moving tribute to the courage and self-sacrifice of those who fell, the Last Post ceremony takes place under the Menin Gate.
-Visit the Medieval History centre on the site of the famous battle of Azincourt (1415) for a wonderful insight into this famous battle
-The town of Amiens with its gothic cathedral and bars/cafes along the canal
-Arras (the capital of the Department) and the new Louvre at Lens for a day of culture
-The area is ideal for walking, the local forests of Hesdin and Crecy having good routes mapped out by the local Tourist Offices.
-Beaches are long and sandy and an easy drive to Berck plage (27km), Fort Mahon plage (28km), Merlimont plage (33km), Le Touquet (35km)
-Only 10 minutes drive away you can take a stroll in the beautiful gardens of the Abbey de Valloirs and visit the historic house

There is so much to see and do in the area, too numerous to mention. There is plenty of information provided with leaflets and books/maps in the gite

Further afield is Paris, which is a 2 1/2hr train ride from Rang du Flier station perfect for a good day out.
Lille and Bruge are within 1 1/2 ->2 hour drive, lovely cities to spend the day sightseeing
