Puglia being a peninsula is flanked by both the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, no wonder the numerous fresh fish shops outnumber the butchers. This is no holiday for those seeking mass tourism, slot machines, English pubs or fish and chip shops but it is for those who love quality but inexpensive restaurants, the atmosphere of local piazzas, friendly people, relaxed living and some of the best ice cream and coffee around. Travel into the countryside with the endless olive groves and orchards and you will also find local restaurants with the finest of local food. The towns of Lecce, Brindisi, Alberobello are close by.
Ostuni is a beautiful medieval town with white-washed houses, windy cobbled streets and breath taking views across the countryside and natural coast line. A short drive away are the unspoiled sandy beaches lapped by the clean waters of the Adriatic. The whole area is a food and wine lovers paradise with local fresh produce and wonderful local wines available everywhere.
