In a small hamlet tucked away up a charming valley, Les Estournels is a 4 bedroomed former farmhouse with generous sized rooms, including the huge baronial style converted barn-end which serves as the sitting room. A perfect spot from which to explore the local area, sample gastronomic delights, or simply relax by the private saltwater pool.
Technically the house sleeps up to eight, but ideally you would be four adults, using the main bedrooms, each with a bathroom (not ensuite). The "bread oven" is popular with teenagers who can sleep in undisturbed! But it must be noted that there are no washing facilities in the bread oven. The final two single beds are in a room underneath the double bedroom, and being honest, there is no sound insulation between those two rooms. I lay all this out so potential clients can see that it is a wonderfully spacious house for two couples, who may have a kid or two, but for 8 adults, well, if you didn't know each other very well pre-holiday, you would by the end!
There are beautiful "petits chemins" from the house which offer stunning walks - see if you can find the cave used by the Resistence to "cache" their arms supply. In the last photograph showing the cave with lights - they are candles we lit... I leave a bag of candles for your use if you wish to light it up as in he photograph - but you must find it first!
Our friends & personal guests have included toddlers to 80yr olds - but please note that there are steps everywhere, so this would not be suitable for anyone with limited mobility. The TV receives the free UK channels (BBC ITV etc), but not yet French TV.
There are plenty of medieval and musical festivals over the summer for outside entertainment. Or enjoy the variety of old fashioned board games provided at the house. Or simply sit on the terrace and listen to the nightjar under the brightest night sky, spotting shooting stars.
