The Blagoevgrad Province region

Bansko is a charming traditional Bulgarian town with a modern ski area. The town lies at 925metres in the Pirin Mountains. The ski area is up to 2600metres, which affords it excellent snow cover from mid December to Mid April. The skiing conditions have been excellent over the last couple of seasons with early snow cover resulting in the gondola opening 2 weeks earlier than planned, and skiing until the middle of April.

Mountain biking is Bansko is great! There is numerous marked trails, superb technical single track, long downhills and up hills!! A map of local routes is available. I had a great week riding in October 2008 and can offer advice and answer questions.

The old and the new lie side by side in Bansko - traditional rustic architecture and farming life- with horse and cart a common sight in the cobbled streets ,alongside the multi million euro ski facilities and five star Kempinski Hotel

The summers are short and hot. The old town buzzes with the international jazz festival in August .Life spill outdoors as the mehanas open their gardens and the pavement cafes in the old square are the place to sip a Bulgarian coffee and watch the world go by...

Having visited Bansko 4 times now we a good knowledge of good quality local restaurants, ski hire, quality reasonable car hire. All of these of which we can advise you on.

Bansko has grown in popularity over the past 10 years as people have come to appreciate the stunning countryside in the summer and the great skiing opportunities in the winter. The town provides a fun mixture of old traditions and modern styles, where the town centre is a world heritage site, and yet there are plenty of modern restaurants and bars to suit all tastes. The people of Bansko are renowned for their hospitality, making a trip to Bansko a holiday to remember.
