The Central Florida region

Almost everyone knows of the fabulous theme parks and attractions of Disney, Orlando which are minutes away from the house. Kennedy Spce Centre is also just an hour away and also the fabulous Gulf Coast just one hour in the other direction.

For the more discerning traveller, a very short car ride away (five minutes) is Celebration Town. This is an up-market town with a hotel lake side, shops of a high caliber but not overly expensive, restaurants and bars which are quite classy. A completely different experience to Old Town, so if you want to treat her (only once, of course) this is the place. So for something different don't miss Celebration.

There is a tall water tower on the corner, which is the turn off from the main highway for Celebration. However, where the tower is situated, is a small development of shops, hairdressers, Irish bar (yes, real Guinness), a Chinese and a great fish restaurant which is heavily themed with brick-n-brack from an old fishing village, well worth a visit although you need to book as it is very popular.

Close by across the highway is an exceptionally good steak house, expensive but very good, well worth a visit too if you have the cash to splash.

Old Town is a purpose built for all ages with free admission live bands on stage Wednesdays, Fidays and Saturdays. All of this on your doorstep. There are family rides and kiddie rides, car cruise nites and the boardwalk style streets are reminiscent of turn of the century Florida. There are 75 speciality shops, from resort wear to sports apparel!

Fine dining, drinking snacks, ethnic food, American favourites, sweets and more. You'll find what you want at 'Old Town'. Bars stay open till 2.00 am. None of the sounds can be heard from the house. Thrilling Human Slingshot, Windstorm Roller Coaster, Ferris Wheel, Family Go Cart Track, Kiddie Coaster, Merry-Go- Round and many more.

In Old Town area you have Celebration, Charles Bronson Highway, even helicopter rides over Disney. There is so much to do and see and of course, eat, either on a budget or high end spending, you have so much choice and if you must, you can always go to the supermarket and shop til you drop in Publix. You can't buy spirits or hard liquor there, you need to use the liquor store next door.

What an experience this area is, there is everything for everybody, young and old. Just a 5 Star location for variety and fun for your R.R. or as we Brits say, holiday for a fortnight (don't ask us to explain what a 'fortnight' is we haven't got a clue).

So what do we say to all of you that are lucky enough to live state side, just set the sat nav and go.

Have a nice day.
