Location description from owner

The Scotland region

The Isle of Mull, said to be the prettiest of all the Hebrides, is a place to unwind, to enjoy peace and tranquility, breathtaking scenery, abundant wildlife and a variety of activities. Having the choice to do as much or as little as you wish is the essence of a good holiday. Some of the options available are:Take a boat trip to Staffa, The Treshnish Isles or Iona. Climb the island Munro - all 3170 feet of it! Chill out on the white sands of Calgary. Take a wildlife watching trip for your best chance of viewing otters, golden and sea eagles, porpoise, red deer, seals and whales as well as the huge variety of flora and fauna for which Mull is famous.Go pony trekking, Whale searching and Loch fishing. Spoil a good walk with a round of golf on either of two courses both of which have beautiful settings and panoramic views. Visit Duart Castle, the ancient seat of the Clan MacLean of Mull. Indulge yourselves at the chocolate factory. Discover the Mull of the past at the museumEnjoy the latest exhibition at An Tobar Arts Centre or maybe catch a concert. Watch a play at the theatre. Visit the distillery, try a wee dram. Browse in craft shops selling goods by local craftsmen. Visit galleries showcasing local artists.Enjoy a selection of locally sourced real food, e.g. shellfish, local beef, lamb or pork at one of the many eating establishments. Explore the coast (we've got 300 miles, - 480km. of it) much of it wild, rugged, full of surprises, keep an eye to the ocean for many different seabird species and the occasional fin - porpoises, sharks, sunfish, dolphins, whales, including orca are seen occasionally! Mull is a Mecca for geologists with a great variety of formations from different eras in the formation of the planet. Are you fascinated by archaeology and history? We have duns, brochs, forts, standing stones, scores of ruined villages, each with a story to tell. Finally, stories about constant rain and wind in the west of Scotland should be ignored. During May and June we often have near drought conditions and wall to wall sunshine. Sunburn is a risk on Mull, bring the factor 15, but also bring the wellies just in case! If you are looking for peace and tranquillity amongst spectacular scenery with the opportunity to do as you please, then look no further

“Lovely Lodge in picturesque location.”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2016

Our mission was to take our grandson to Balamory (Tobermory) The Lodge was very well equipped, clean and cosy and perfect for our three night stay. We were able to get a bus nearby into Tobermory which was very convenient. A nice pub and well stocked grocery store was nearby.

Hi Jeanette, Thank you for taking the time to review Willow Lodge at Cill Mhoire Lodges. Janet and I are delighted that you enjoyed your stay.

“Just the job.”

We wanted a base for cycle touring on Mull. The lodge was great, clean and tidy, the nearby pub was handy, and the cycling was very tough! Well worth th emoney, and if we go back to Mull, we'll use the lodge again if possible.

Thank you for taking the time to review Willow Lodge; Janet & I are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back to Mull. Best regards, Andrew & Janet Stevens

“Lovely lodge in an excellent location”

Reviewed 29 Jul 2012

Andrew, owner of the self catering lodge, was on hand to give a full briefing on the use of the lodge and during our stay he was able to offer helpful advice on a variety of subjects. The lodge is very quiet, situated just off the very windy and hilly road from Dervaig to Tobermory. It is ideally situated for making trips to Tobermory, for walking the half a mile (approx) to the Dervaig village pub, shop and post office, and for exploring the northern half of the island. Many lovely walks are within easy reach, and points of interest include Am Berlinn restaurant, Calgary Bay beach, art gallery and cafe, the island of Ulva, Glengorm castle cafe, the Old Byre heritage centre, Duart Castle.....etc. The lodge is about a 45minute drive from the ferry terminal, it is a cosy property, very well appointed, and there is decking and a garden. Visitors need to note that it takes longer than expected, due to winding and sometimes single track roads, to go round the island. Unfortunately we missed out on our trip to the sea eagle hide, but visitors to Mull were reporting on the excellent wildlife on offer. As for midges, we were never bitten, perhaps that was partly due to the midge machine close to the lodge.

You clearly enjoyed your stay and we thank you for taking the time to review Willow Lodge, We appreciate every review and positive ones, such as yours, are proof that we are doing something right. Thank you.

A warm, friendly and personal reception in the modern, wooden cottage in a nice location outside the village. Beautiful coasts and hills within easy reach, pleasant village and a good pub. The house has everything one can need in a good condition, a pleasure to be in.

Thank you for taking the time to review Willow Lodge; Janet and I are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us and to receive a lovely review, like yours, is the icing on the cake. Thank you.
