“Excellent property, nicely furnished and great for kids (plenty of animals)”

Reviewed 5 Apr 2016

We loved The Retreat, we were only there for a weekend but would definitely consider it for a longer break. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, 2 WCs & 2 showers and plenty of seating in the open plan kitchen & living area. Lovely free range eggs on arrival Our children were allowed to help feed the farm animals, which they loved.

“Felt at home straightaway”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2015

We had a warm welcome from the cottage owners. The cottage was cosy and very clean. We found everything we needed and wished that we had been able to stay longer.

“Fantastic farm holiday, ideal for children, great hosts - highly recommended!!”

Reviewed 27 Jan 2014

We spent a fantastic two weeks at Amanda and Andy's farm. The children were collecting eggs, feeding the chickens and goats, and they were taken for hay rides. We also went boating on the private lake. Andy lent us his vintage racing bike so that we could explore the area by bike. Amanda is a great hostess and very considerate, e.g. she prepared the beds of our 4-year-old boys with construction vehicle bed-linen. This is one of many things that the boys are still talking about. All in all, we had a fantastic time! This was the true Norfolk experience! We hope to be back sooner than later!

“Much more than we expected”

Reviewed 6 Aug 2013

We have stayed at countless rental cottages in the UK and France and this was one of the very best. The property (The Stables) was spacious, modern, clean and well appointed (more than enough room for my wife, myself and our two boys aged 10 and 8), and the farm was perfect with its facilities, fields, lake (with rowing boat!), tractor rides and animals, which all the children helped take care of. Andy and Amanda were excellent (and fun) hosts, and couldn't do enough to make our stay more comfortable, including providing us with eggs, vegetables and the occasional pint of home brew. The farm is well positioned with Norwich, the Broads and the North Norfolk coast all a short drive away. We will be back .....

“The most relaxing, perfect holiday venue we've ever stayed at!”

Reviewed 31 Jul 2013

We have just had a wonderful two weeks staying in the beautiful Stables (The Retreat was fully booked). The converted barn was very clean, spacious, and was fitted out with high end fixtures and fittings. Andy and Amanda are the perfect hosts, we thoroughly enjoyed meeting them, and will be coming back for many years to come. They should be very proud of the service they provide their guests, which is quite unique. There was so much for our ten and eight year old boys to do, they actually asked Andy if we could buy the barn and live there! Unfortunately for all of us, he had to say no. We know that we were very lucky to stumble across this little gem, and can't wait to return. Keep up the good work Amanda & Andy!

“THE RETREAT IS A TREAT”

Reviewed 14 Jun 2013

Just had a 2 night stay in "the Retreat" and can say that it was an absolute pleasure to have stayed there. The accommodation was spotless and had everything we required and more. Amanda and Andy were amazing hosts and couldn't have done more to make our visit more enjoyable. Will definitely book again.

“Perfect holiday hosts”

Reviewed 2 Jun 2013

Fab cottage - clean, tidy, well equipped - beautiful, peaceful location. Amanda and Andy were the perfect holiday hosts, always there to help when needed. They made the holiday extra special, involving children and family with feeding farm animals, collecting fresh eggs and tractor rides. They were the perfect holiday hosts, and went above and beyond to make our holiday extra special. Thank you so much!!

“EXCELLENT HOLIDAY”

Reviewed 12 Apr 2013

what a wonderful place to stay this is are second time here and we will keep going back. The retreat had everything we needed the wet room was great for are daughter who has limited mobility.andy and amanda always make us feel welcome and nothing is too much for them.

“Excellent family home and holiday base”

Reviewed 3 Nov 2012

The Retreat was instantly appealing with its clean and thoughtful furnishing (matching, not oddments); its well stocked kitchen and the beautifully made beds. The showers were top rate as well and the heating and hot water was great. Everything was easy to work - having a washing machine and dishwasher was very handy. There was plenty of space for the five of us (a family of 2 parents and 3 children of 9, 13 and 16) in the house, and the farm was lovely to wander around. Andy and Amanda are very welcoming hosts (without being over bearing). The location was excellent as a base - we visited a number of National Trust and English Heritage properties, as well as some of the delightful beaches and villages along the coast. Sandringham was an easy drive away - and a lovely visit. All in all, a first class place to stay for Autumn half term. Our only issue lay with first finding the property (the tiny winding lanes confused us - but a phone call to Andy got us there within minutes). Memo to self - take more care in reading the directions!

“Fantastic, Children still on cloud nine and us!”

Reviewed 28 Oct 2012

Without doubt the best place to have a holiday with the kids! Amanda and Andy are so welcoming and could not do enough for us to enjoy our stay, we have 4 children 3 boys 12,8,and 4 and a girl age 2, all loved feeding the animals collecting the eggs, taking the goats for a walk, cuddling guinea pigs, not to mention the tractor rides and rowing the boat round the lake! The accommodation is just pure luxury with everything you will ever need. We will be going back for many years to come!
