Location description from owner

The Balearic Islands region

Deia is ideally situated for walking or beach holidays. The climate is very mild with very few really cold or wet periods. Palma with its lovely old town has excellent art galleries, museums, theatre, shops and restaurants all within a 50 minute drive.

Deia

Deia is one of the jewels of the Mediterranean and is certainly the most attractive village in Mallorca. With the towering mountain range of the Serra de Tramuntana as its backdrop, the village, topped by its ancient church, sits on its hill and extends to the valley below. A combination of mountain and stunning views all along the north west coast make this the most attractive and sought after part of the island.
Although small and still retaining a village atmosphere, Deia itself has numerous excellent restaurants, from the most expensive and chic to charming, casual, inexpensive bars and cafes. A small but incredibly well stocked supermarket, a very helpful English speaking chemist, a bank and cash point make Deya a very convenient and relaxing place for a short or long stay. The Patron Saint of Deia is Saint Juan and the festival to commemorate his birth takes place at the end of June each year. Various festivities are organised by the Town Hall and these range from fishing competitions to fireworks! The opportunity to enjoy walks around the village are many and varied. A 30 minute stroll, through the olive and lemon groves, brings you to Cala Deia, the sheltered little cove and beach where fishermen still go out at dawn to cast their nets. The Cala can also be reached by car, but the walk is delightful, just allow more time for the return journey up hill!
The Robert Graves Museum is 10 minutes walk from the village and is well worth a visit. An excellent film shows the aspects of his life in Mallorca., where he lived in this charming house with its pretty garden, until his death. Art galleries and artisan shops are also to be enjoyed. For those who do not want to hire a car, there is an excellent and frequent bus service. Taxis are easy to book and are relatively inexpensive. Bikes can be hired in Soller, 8 km away.
The market town of Soller has excellent shops, a larger supermarket, a 24 hour health emergency clinic and easy parking. From here the small train goes to Palma on a regular basis. The tram goes from the centre of the town to the Port of Soller, 2 km away. Here you will find a large sandy beach with all the usual facilities, such as sun chairs, pedalos, a big choice of bars and restaurants. Here also you can hire boats or to take a boat trip up or down to coast to other beaches, such as Tuent and La Calobra.

Palma, with its beautiful, historic old town and impressive cathedral, is about 45 minutes drive, or an hour by bus, away. In the last few years this has become a buzzing city with excellent shops and restaurants.

Deia is ideally situated for a stay of any type and whatever the season, in Mallorca

“Excellent in every way”

Reviewed 30 Jul 2016

Quality duplex in an excellent location in probably the most beautiful village in Majorca. The accommodation is on two floors and has everything that you will need. We were a couple and able bodied but the stairs would need to be considered for older people or those with disabilities. Because of the mountains it was cooler at night and in fact we did not need to use the air conditioning once despite the excellent weather throughout our stay. The views are wonderful and it was perfect to have the option of several terraces, including shade when needed. The village has and excellent choice of several restaurants and we will certainly be back.

Thank you so much, Steve. So glad you were both happy. Clare

“EXCELLENT DUPLEX IN BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS”

Reviewed 13 Sep 2013

The duplex/two storey house is superb. Every possible amenity is provided at the duplex including a superb wifi. Fantastic patio/sunbathing area with breathtaking views. Very peaceful and tranquil. Approx 3/4 mins walk and you are in the village. Several bars and quite a few restaurants (booking a table is necessary). Food superb. Supermarket has everything and anything you will need. Beautiful walks around deia. The cove area to swim (approx 15 mins) downhill, a must visit in your vacation! Easy access bus to resorts on either side of deia is recommended. Deia is one of the most beautiful places we have holidayed in.

“Outstanding Holiday Rental”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2013

We stayed here for 2 weeks in August and it was really great. The apartment is clean, well laid out, tastefully decorated and has everything required for a really stellar holiday. The owners are very accommodating and helpful. They responded quickly to our requests for information and assistance with local life and things to do and places to go. The location is ideal and the views from the patio and rooms are magnificent. I will miss this place and we will look forward to returning in the future.
