Kent is steeped in history and rightly known as the 'Garden of England' with rolling hills, orchards, hop fields and an extensive and varied coastline.
There is something for everyone - the majestic Tudor castles of Dover, Deal and Walmer, the medieval walled city of Canterbury and the narrow lanes and pretty timbered houses of Sandwich as well as lovely rural countryside. The long and varied coast offers the differing resorts of Whitstable, Broadstairs and Folkstone and inland are many pretty country villages with tea rooms. The oldest brewery in England is based at historic Faversham and Tenterden has a picture postcard High Street lined with antique shops. There is also the beautiful and historic garden of Vita Sackville West at Sissinghurst and The Secret Garden in Sandwich designed by Sir Edward Lutyens.
It is also easy to visit France from Dover or via the Eurotunnel and there are 2 major shopping areas - Westwood Cross near Ramsgate and a discoun outlett village near Ashford.
Kent offers a wealth of activities for all year round - there are 3 championship golf courses, walking with wonderful views from the Saxon Shore way along the shore and the cliff tops and of course sailing and fishing anywhere along the coast or on lakes. A short drive takes you to country pubs, tea rooms and antique shops or feel the wind in your hair on any of the cycle paths!

"Brilliant - We loved it"
This is the second time we have stayed at this cottage. The first time being Christmas of 2012. We love the cottage. It is close to everything, always warm and welcoming, decorated beautifully and suits all ages. We also met the couple who owned the cottage and they were also lovely, friendly and welcoming. We can't wait to go back and stay. Feels like home from home.

"Delightful, well situated cottage"
We took my elderly father in law for a couple of days by the sea. The booking was easy and Alan and Kate communicated really well. The location is in the town centre (the end with the antique shops, wine shop, italian coffee shop and bakery) and a couple of streets from the seafront. Easy access to the pubs and restaurants. Ideal for us as we were limited in our walking range. Parking wasn't a problem as long as you're happy to move the car in the morning. The house itself was spotless, comfy and warm. Didn't use the kitchen much so can't comment on the equipment. Quiet in the evening - the local traffic might wake you in the morning as the house is on the street, but this wasn't an issue for us. Really enjoyed our stay - Deal is a lovely unspoilt seaside town to stay in - pier, beach, castles, lovely walks along the seafront and close enough to Canterbury to satisfy your shopping/culture needs!

Lovely cottage, clean, cozy, bright rooms, nicely decorated, very well equipped and quite spacious. Only the living/dining room is a bit small. The location is also very good, in the old part of Deal, on a big square, many shops within walking distance, near the shore and lots to see in the area. The only problem was parking the car. In the surrounding of the college you need a permit or have to pay for parking. For free parking you have to go far way. Maybe the owner can apply for a permit. The owner ask us to deposit the wast in a public trash bin in the street. A bit strange I think. We had a very pleasant stay in Flotsam Cottage.

"Lovely and Homely"
We stayed at Flotsam Cottage for a family Christmas as we had not been together like this for 6 years. The welcome was great, the cottage was lovely and clean and spacious and has all the mod cons. It was homely, warm and welcoming and we had a fantastic stay. We loved it so much and we are now going back for a second visit in May for my sister's 60th. Can't wait

"A homely, spacious, tastefully decorated cottage, In the most perfect location."
We stayed in the cottage for a week and had a great holiday! Over the last 20 years of holidaying in the UK, this was one of the best holiday homes we have lived in. The high standard of cleanliness was perfect .Especially for allergy sufferers as ourselves. Yet,at the same time everything was comfortable and homely. Our son loved coming back to the cottage at the end of a long day out. Even during a week of mixed weather, we had no shortage of places to visit and local attractions to go to.Not to mention the shops and eating places on the doorstep, many places are children friendly, which makes a big difference! And at the end of the day a relaxing short walk down by the seafront and a five minute walk back, made our time away special.Would highly recommend!

The cottage was in a perfect location, very well presented with easy access to parking. If you want to chill out, relax and enjoy the perfect evening with a glass of wine, great food or just sit in front of the fire and dream, this is the house to stay in. The rooms were very comfortable and warm, beds good and the welcome hamper and flowers were a very nice touch on arrival. The kitchen was well equipped and comfortable to cook in We will certainly return and have recommeded the cottage to our friends

"Beautifully furnished house in top Deal location"
This is our sixth time in Deal and we were spoilt by this fab house. We love Deal for its relaxed vibe, gorgeous pier, beautiful old town, fish n chips, market and strolls along the sea front. Its our favourite seaside town in the south east! The house has been recently refurbished and has everything we needed for us and our two young girls. Cosy living room with lovely log fire, which doubles as the dining facility. Great selection of books, Coast magazines (which we enjoyed reading!), DVDs and games. Kitchen - well fitted with all the necessary things including washing up liquid, salt pepper etc! Pretty tiny courtyard (big enough for the Easter bunny to visit!) and a side alley with some beach stuff etc. Bedrooms were nicely furnished, good sized - light and bright with double aspects. Comfy beds and a very restful nights sleep. A very clean house too! A great location - just at the start of the main action of the high street with all its great shops so very easy to pop out for anything. Opposite the fab saturday market and 2 mins from Middle Street Fish and Chips, 1 min from the sea front. All in all we really enjoyed our three days and we plan to come back to this house in before the summer with our friends who couldnt make it. See you again soon hopefully!

"Very comfortable, well furnished cottage, great location"
This cottage is lovingly decorated and furnished and very comfortable with everything you might need for a stay. Right in the heart of north Deal - the particularly quaint and picturesque part with small independent shops, bakers etc. and just a couple of streets off the sea front, and some excellent pubs nearby. 5 minutes walk from the train station. All bedrooms are a good size with very comfortable beds. The downstairs areas are small - and might be quite tight for five adults if you wanted to do a lot of cooking and dining at home, but that's the nature of most of the cottages in this area - and part of its charm. Also with many options for food in the area (great fish and chips on middle st), why would you? We were three adults and a baby and it suited us perfectly. What else...? Spotlessly clean. Nice wood burning stove, and DVD's and books for entertainment. The owners were very efficient and well organised, and provided everything we needed for the baby. Highly recommended.
