Kent is the garden of England and is a very pretty county. It has many areas of great beauty and a long coastline
You are 90 minutes by train form London, so ideal for a day trip.
East kent is a coastal area with many beaches and ports The ancient city of Canterbury is close which is well worth a visit .
There are many homes nearby owned by famous people such as Charles Dickens, Winston Churchill and Rudyard Kipling to mention a few and the Duke of Wellington died Walmer Castle a few miles away.
There are many places of interest nearby including Dover Castle and many stately homes such as Knowle and gardens such as Sissinghurst run by English Heritage and the National Trust.
Deal is one of the Cinque Ports. It has a castle built by Henry 8th to protect England from invasion, and there is another castle in nearby Walmer. Deal dates back to Medieval times but is mostly a Georgian town when it was reknowned for smuggling and had many links with the navy . At one stage just about everyone was involved in smuggling and the streets where all this activity went on are preserved in the Conseravtion area . These winding streets have immense charm as does the long seafront with ts mutilcoloured houses.
There are many local shops cafes and restaurants as well as fish and chips. You can walk or cycle along the promenade and go to the end of the pier. There is a large swimming pool with wave machine and slide , playground, tennis courts indoor and outdoor and open air paddling pool all a few minutes walk.
Deal is the place for an old fashioned English seaside holiday without too many crowds.
You can visit nearby beaches and go to see the white cliffs of Dover
Ian Fleming who created James Bond once lived here and Bond got his 007 number off the Deal to London bus!!
Goldfinger is set in the nearby golf course in Sandwich.
The weather is sunny and Deal has a mirco climate . I you have a sheltered sunny garden like ours you will enjoy the sun,
The food quality is excellent, as there are many small shops and farm shops as well a market.
Food and drink is a important part of a holiday and here you will not be disappointed wether it is fish and chips, fresh pies or haute cuisine
