Dartmouth is a beautiful historic harbour town with fascinating architecture, interesting and quirky shops, fabulous restaurants, cafes and pubs and the Flavel arts centre theatre. There are interesting galleries with local artists work and a castle close buy with a cafe overlooking the estuary and sea, while away the hours watching the sailing boats come in and out of Dartmouth. Why not take a guided tour by boat along the river Dart to Totnes and pass by many areas of interest including Agatha Christie's home. Or take a boat trip out to other coastal towns, such as Torquay (you may see dolphins and seals on your journey). Dartmouth is served by two ferries, upper and lower (car and foot passenger) to take you over to Kingswear, from where you can travel to Brixham, a lovely fishing harbour and town. Access coastal walks with secluded coves and sandy beaches. We provide some walking maps for residents use during your stay.

Spend the day exploring Torbay before making your return trip to Dartmouth, taking in some of the exceptional views of the Torbay coastline, the river Dart and surrounding areas.

Why not drive along the coast from Dartmouth taking in some truly breathtaking scenery; along the way are Devonshire villages, Slapton Sands, (used for military training during WW2) there is a nature reserve, restaurants and walks if you are feeling energetic to Beesands and Hallsands.

Further afield is Bigbury on Sea, with surf school and cafe it has a stunning sandy beach (one side is dog friendly) leading to Burgh Island which has a distinctive art deco hotel featured in some of the Piorot series. Dartmouth

Dartmouth is truly a magical place - a wide variety of architectural styles. A town where history is alive, where shops are unique, charming, quirky and individual, where organic and local produce is proudly represented by a host of top quality restaurants and cafes, where a warm welcome is offered by those who will host your stay and a place where every pub holds out a hand of greeting. Dartmouth is a town where folk still take time to stand in the park and chat, sip a coffee on the sunny embankment or laze under the cherry trees and listen to music from the bandstand. visit www.discoverdartmouth.com/
