His response was: "Your advert could have made more of the incredible views from lounge and balcony and the superb location in terms of convenient, easy access to everything Dartmouth has to offer".

Well, we thought we had mentioned that in the advert but we'll let his comments emphasise those points!

Excellent value compared to other properties of this type and in this location. Dartview is an extremely comfortable townhouse conversion

Location description from manager

The England region

There is a wealth of things see and do in the West Country as well as having some of the most breathtaking scenery in the United Kingdom, it has several award winning beaches to relax on. The climate during the summer is often balmy as the Gulf Stream warms the seas in the area, makes for excellent surfing and other water based pursuits. As far as attractions are concerned there is the Eden Project a vast eco-project with huge bio-domes to explore which offer many species from around the world as well as plenty for kids to do.

Dartmouth

Dartmouth with its beautiful old-world centre is considered the capital of the South Hams, famous for peaceful rolling countryside, renowned coastline, excellent beaches (Blue Flag status) & coastal walks along footpaths leading to secluded beaches.

Dartmouth’s focal point is its bustling harbour and broad, wooded river. The town is designated a Conservation Area with 16th and 17th century timbered buildings, historic narrow streets, beautiful old shops, intimate pubs and excellent restaurants. Beach lovers will enjoy Sugary Cove near Dartmouth Castle as well as the beautiful Blackpool Sands and the long, unspoilt expanse of beach at Slapton Sands both of which are approximately 10 minutes drive.

Numerous attractions include the outdoor pool, pleasure cruises upriver to Totnes; Sailing or hiring motor boats for exploring the river or fishing; taking the Kingswear car ferry across to Torbay’s more bustling resorts of Brixham, Paignton and Torquay (10-15 minutes) or travelling on the restored steam train running between Kingswear and Paignton.

In August, Dartmouth hosts The Royal Regatta with funfair, sporting events, fireworks dispays and an array of boats. Some of the great beach destinations include Slapton, Torcross, Hope Cove, Beesands, Prawle, Salcombe, Bantham (surfing) Modbury and Thurlestone.

Recommended day trips include the estuary towns of Totnes and Kingsbridge, the riverfront village of Dittisham, a trip to scenic Dartmoor, a visit to the superb Plymouth Aquarium, a day at the truly superb Paignton Zoo or Woodlands Leisure Park.

For fishing enthusiasts there are plenty of opportunities to go out to sea and fish for flat fish, bream, pollock, bass and mackerel. Sharks and Conger Eel are also caught regularly. Fesh water fishermen have abundant opportunities for both coarse and game fishing in well stocked reservoirs or on river beats.

“Great central location with river views”

Reviewed 20 Apr 2016

The accommodation was comfortable, well equipped and clean. It is located in the middle of Dartmouth with only a few minutes walk to the quayside, pubs, restaurants, shops and buses. The balcony is a good size and is an excellent place to sit and watch the boats, ferries and steam trains the other side of the river. It also gets the morning sun.

“Central location with great views”

This property was a great find. Located in the centre of town, you're within walking distance of Dartmouth's many shops, pubs and restaurants. It has an upside down arrangement, with the bedrooms and bathroom on the floor beneath the living area. This means there are spectacular views over the harbour and Kingswear from the lounge & balcony. The bedrooms were a good size & everything was very clean & tidy. Parking was available on the road outside, though was a bit sparse till after 6pm, but there's plenty of alternative parking elsewhere around the town. We enjoyed our time here so much were hoping to return next year & have recommended it to other family members.

“Fantastic house, with amazing views over river dart”

Reviewed 18 Mar 2016

Stunning location of this 2nd floor house overlooking the river Dart. Very comfortable with all modern cons with beautiful views from the lounge/ dining room on the upper floor. Good size bedrooms and bathroom downstairs. We really enjoyed our stay, only wish we could stay longer!. On street parking with a 2 minute walk down to town.. Really would recommend this property.

“Excellent accommodation and location”

Reviewed 1 Mar 2016

We very much enjoyed our stay at Dartview, a comfortable and well equipped property with what must be one of the best views of the river and Dartmouth available. The property is on two levels accessed from street level by a flight of stairs. The bedrooms and bathroom are situated on the first floor, and living/dining area with balcony view on the top floor. The property is superbly situated in the town with shops, restaurants, pubs and the water front literally within a few short minutes walk. Kingswear lower ferry is on the street below the property, and the Higher ferry is no more than a couple of minutes drive. We will return to Dartmouth in the future and would look to book this property again for sure.

“Great location, with brilliant view”

Reviewed 9 Oct 2015

We stayed for a week in Dartview, and found the property to be just what we were looking for. Being less than a minute's walk to the river or any number of shops and restaurant's it made life very easy. After long days out in South Hams, we ate in on several nights and found all the utensils we needed in the cupboards and the supplied information pack was comprehensive. Above all though, we enjoyed the commanding view over the Dart and to Kingswear. Excellent choice.

“Absolutely fantastic”

Reviewed 19 Jul 2015

This was our second year returning and we loved it as much as the first time! The view is spectacular and the best bit is relaxing after a long day on the balcony, watching the boats come in. Our little ones still call it "our boat house holiday" and it took some convincing to get them back to London after our week's stay. The property is clean, tidy and comfortable. The information pack was consulted on a regular basis. There are lots to do in the town and surrounding areas, so impossible to get bored. Lovely restaurants...which we made well use of. We will definitely be returning!

“Great location, fantastic views”

Reviewed 19 Jun 2015

Hardly any better location for a Dartmouth holiday than Newcomen Road. Under 100 meters from the river side, five minutes into town with its outstanding facilities. Plenty of room in the house and comfortably furnished. Excellent wifi Watch the boats and ships enter the Dart from the balcony looking out to the see. During our stay we had both a cruise liner and Tall Ship visit Dartmouth. Perfect venue for exploring Devon.

“The view from the balcony is stunning”

Reviewed 20 Apr 2015

The wonderful view from the balcony takes in Dartmouth, Kingswear and the river Dart - and the view is just as good when you are sitting inside on the sofa with the windows closed. The location is excellent and the apartment is well equipped and cosy. Dartmouth itself is a very special place to stay.

“Great views!”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2015

Although the weather was not ideal for our week in Dartmouth we had a lovely time during our stay at Dartview. The view from the living room is amazing, I don't think I would ever get bored of it!

“Great views in the heart of Dartmouth”

Reviewed 9 Apr 2015

This was our first stay in Dartmouth and we were fortunate to find this great accommodation in the heart of Dartmouth. With two small children we found Dartview well suited for our needs, everything we required and comfortable.
