"A relaxing break in beautiful Devon"
We spent three days at The Granary at Lurcombe after our Devon wedding. We immediately felt at home and relaxed as soon as we arrived. Lurcombe is in a beautiful and peaceful spot, and The Granary is very homely. We had been impressed by the Lurcombe website but in reality it was even better. Nick and Sarah sent a lovely welcome email upon booking and gave us lots of useful info to help us make the most of our stay. If you like dogs then you have the bonus of Lurcombe's resident canines. They welcome strokes and cuddles and will lead you on a walk around the lanes and nearby fields. They are extremely well behaved and we loved having them around. But if we didn't have time to hang out with them they were quite happy to find alternative entertainment. There is all the local information you'd need in a folder in The Granary, and a thoughtful gift of eggs, milk and a bottle of wine upon arrival. We also really liked the nice touch of 'just married' bunting hung up for us too! The kitchen has everything you need, the bathroom is spacious, as is the bedroom which has a huge and very comfortable bed. The Granary had all the space we needed and didn't feel cramped at all. Lurcombe is well located on the edge of Dartmoor and so there are plenty of things to see and do in the area. We went to Ashburton (delicious pasties in the deli there), Widecombe, Haytor and Burrator Reservoir. We will definitely be back as there is so much more we want to do. Thanks so much to Nick and Sarah for creating such a lovely place to stay. We look forward to our next visit! Kathryn & Josh

Your stay begins with a genuinely warm welcome and 3 curious dogs - Holly, Pumpkin and Scruff who are wonderful - I'm NOT an animal person either!. Nick and Sarah are the perfect hosts, never seen unless you need anything at all. The property is absolutely divine, real olde worlde courtyard. Nestled in a beautiful valley. Locally there are plenty of pubs and restaurants to choose from. The pond is stocked with some good carp, running to double figures - don't expect to get monsters but do expect one hell of a fight, these are wild carp and fight like tigers - I LOVED IT! My only 'gripe' would be the mattress was too firm for my personal liking - that's not to say it's uncomfortable - it's my personal preference. Sorry to leave and really enjoyed our stay here - thanks to Nick and Sarah.
Thanks for the lovely comments, the A-MA-ZING was a great e-mail to wake up too! Really pleased you enjoyed the fishing too, it's idyllic down at the pond especially from spring to autumn. All the best and we hope to see you again, if you do get a chance have a look at The Mill which has a Super King Bed whcih is simply enormous...all the best, Nick & Sarah

"Perfect property in a peaceful location"
We chose the Granary after reading other positive reviews and were certainly not left disappointed. The Granary is situated on a working farm, but is still very peaceful. The location is ideal to explore Dartmoor and Torquay is only 30 minutes away if you wish to visit the seaside for the day. Nick couldn't of been more helpful and we made three new friends in the form of Holly, Patch and Scruff - the resident dogs! The property is clean tidy and nicely set out, the shower is certainly one of the best I've had!
Thankyou for staying with us and for the great comments, we're improving all the time and it is lovely to hear your views, hope to see you soon, Sarah & Nick

"beautiful location and lovely apartment"
The apartment is lovely, very well equipped and comfortably furnished. The bed is very comfy and the shower is fantastic. The farm is in a beautiful valley, 15 minutes drive from Hay Tor where there are some lovely walks and so close to the A38 that getting to the coast etc is really easy. We enjoyed playing tennis one morning and absolutely loved having the dogs around (who are incredibly well behaved, I was very impressed). Nick was so helpful when we got a puncture - quickly fixed at a local garage. We loved our stay on Dartmoor!
Thanks for the lovely comments, the moor is so beautiful it speak s for itself, we just add the comfort! Great the tyre was fixed so easily and so good you got to have a pre-wimbledon warm up! Hope to see you again int he future, all the best, Sarah & Nick

"Quiet and restful with friendly animals as well as hosts"
Easy to find with the directions given and lived up to our expectations. Nick. Sarah, children and dogs all happy to see us and definitely had the interests of their guests at heart. A well furnished accommodation in a tranquil setting was just what we needed. Knowing the area beforehand was a bonus but the first time visitor would have plenty of guidance from the hosts on local places of interest and places to eat and drink. No mobile phone signal in the property as we already knew from previous holidays in some areas of Dartmoor but the signal returned a short way up the drive. BBC television stations could be a bit iffy but again we have had this problem before in Dartmoor and it made no difference to our holiday enjoyment. The farm is within easy reach of main roads so access to places of interest in the South West is no problem. We saw our first shooting star from the farm window as light pollution is minimal and would have no problems in recommending the property to other potential holiday makers.
Thanks Michael, we'll keep our eyes peeled for some more shooting stars, all the very best, Nick & Sarah

Beautifully decorated cottage, very well furnished to a high standard, in a lovely setting and with great views. The dogs at the farm are adorable, but most of all Nick and Sarah are lovely people who make a difference in their service with thoughtful touches such as wine/eggs/milk on arrival and give you great tips of where to go. Thank you for a fantastic first holidays with our 1 month old little girl. We will come back!
Thanks for the lovely comments, hope you had a good trip back, have a lovely rest of the summer, Sarah & Nick
